It was fantastic to host the Brownlee Triathlon at Silcoates for the second year running. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

With 1,200 Key Stage 2 pupils from local schools taking part, our campus was buzzing with energy, and what a pleasure it was to see so many children getting active, trying something new and having fun through sport.

A huge thank you to The Brownlee Foundation, Pho3nix Foundation, YPO, our Year 13 volunteers and the amazing staff at Silcoates for making it happen!

โœจ Year 7 New Pupil Day โœจ

Our future Year 7 pupils had a fantastic day getting their second taste of Senior School life ahead of September.

From testing acids and alkalis in Science to creating Zentangle-inspired artwork, composing music, and taking on team-building challenges and rounders in PE, there was plenty to get involved in.

Most importantly, it was wonderful to see new friendships forming, confidence growing and so much enthusiasm throughout the day. We can't wait to welcome them back in September.

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Silcoates Athletes will represent Wakefield and the school at two major sporting events over the next few days.

First up, ten Senior pupils have earned selection for the West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Championships at Leeds Beckett University.

Alongside this, our Junior Boys and Junior Girls squads are heading to the ESAA Track & Field Cup Regional โ€˜Bโ€™ Finals, after outstanding performances that saw both teams finish 4th in the qualifying round and secure strong national rankings heading into the finals.

This level of success is a real testament to the hard work, talent and determination of all involved.

We wish them all the very best of luck as they proudly represent Silcoates and Wakefield!

๐Ÿ† Old Silcoatiansโ€™ Day

Generations of Old Silcoatians returned to Silcoates on Saturday to reconnect, reminisce, and take on our current pupils in sport.

While the weather wasn't on our side, there was plenty of โ€˜Silcoates Spiritโ€™ and good humour throughout the day.

Results:
โ€ข Netball: 17-4 to Old Silcoatians
โ€ข Hockey: 7-2 to Old Silcoatians
โ€ข Tennis: 6-4 to Silcoatians
โ€ข Touch Rugby: 9-3 to Old Silcoatians

The Old Silcoatians took home the trophy this time, but the real highlight was seeing our school community, past and present, reconnecting on the sidelines.

Thank you to everyone who played, cheered, and supported. We are already looking forward to next yearโ€™s event! ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฉท Pink It Up Day ๐Ÿฉท

Pre-School and Reception had a brilliant day taking part in the Candlelighters 'Pink It Up' fundraiser!

With a whole host of pink-themed activities, team games, and a scavenger hunt, the day was filled with smiles, kindness, and Silcoates spirit. The absolute highlight of the day was a picnic lunch, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. ๐Ÿฅช

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we are delighted to have raised an incredible ยฃ791 for Candlelighters. Thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful cause!

It was a pleasure to welcome Alison and Treacle Bear from Wakefield Hospice to our Junior School assembly to thank pupils for their fantastic efforts in the Reindeer Run back in December.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, an incredible ยฃ2,495.50 was raised for the charity. It was wonderful to hear how these vital funds help support the important work of the hospice. And, of course, Treacle Bear was a huge hit with the pupils! ๐Ÿป
