Aside from you... whoโs the biggest hero in your classroom? ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ In some classrooms, it's Pim!
โThe children absolutely love the Big Maths characters. Pim in particular has become a classroom hero. They actually cheer when he appears on the board.โ - Primary Teacher, Scotland
Why does Pim work?
โ
He turns abstract digits into "Things."
โ
He builds instant confidence - "It's Nothing New".
โ
He encourages kids to talk about their thinking - helping with oracy.

Maths is often made harder than it needs to be. ๐งฉ
Too much jargon.
Too much overload.
Too many children left thinking they are the problem.
They are not.
When maths is broken into small, manageable steps, the anxiety disappears. Confidence grows, fluency improves, and every child can succeed.
That is where Big Maths is different. We donโt change the child; we change the approach.

Just 38% of the 2025 KS2 SATs maths questions drew on Year 6 content.
Most came from Years 3, 4 and 5.
Thatโs why SATs success is built over time, not just in the final few weeks.
The real question is: What has your maths programme been securing year after year?
Weโve written a simple (free) guide breaking down exactly what the 2025 data shows and what schools can do about it.

Are you in the majority?
The majority of schools followed the mastery bandwagon... and are now dealing with weaker fluency, weaker mental maths, and children who are less confident than they should be.
That is where Big Maths is different.

Maths is often made harder than it needs to be.
Children are sometimes given words to remember before they have really seen what the maths means.
That is why Fact Families are so powerful.
When children know one fact, they can uncover several more. It helps them see how numbers belong together, builds confidence, and supports real fluency.
Our latest blog explains how Big Maths uses simple, child-friendly ideas to help children see the maths so they can do the maths.

Squiggleworth Seizes the Day! โ๏ธ
Ever wonder why we call them squiggles?
To a child, a digit can feel like just a squiggle on a page until they understand its place value.
Meet Squiggleworth, he helps children look 'inside' a number.
Today, he is helping us partition 345:
3 means 300
4 means 40
5 means 5
That is the power of place value.
When children can see what each digit is really worth, they stop guessing and start calculating with much more confidence.
Parents: Next time your child sees a number in their homework, ask:
โWhat would Squiggleworth say each digit is worth?โ
Weโd love to hear their answers in the comments. โจ

Most maths assessment tells you how children scored.
Big Maths goes further by helping schools see the next teaching step, so gaps can be identified clearly and support can be targeted where it matters most.
If you want assessment to inform teaching, not just measure it, see how Big Maths works.
