From space hoppers to sprint finishes! 🚀🏃‍♂️ Our KS1 pupils put on an incredible showcase at their Sports Day yesterday.

It was a brilliant afternoon where a whole year of learning and practice truly paid off. Our young athletes excelled at the space hopper race, agility courses, and running events with immense determination, but the real highlight was the fantastic team spirit on display.

A massive thank you to all the families who brought so much energy to the sidelines, and a huge well done, KS1! 👏

The Hartley Sports Pavilion was filled with excitement as our young athletes took on the coveted space hopper race, hurdles, and balancing challenges. It was wonderful to see them cheering each other on every step of the way.

Our wonderful FS1 children had a brilliant time at their annual Sports Day yesterday. The sports pavilion was buzzing with excitement as our youngest athletes took on the beanbag throw, balancing, hurdles, and so much more.

It was absolutely lovely to see them competing so happily alongside their friends, all while earning those all-important House points!

A huge thank you to all the families who were able to attend and cheer from the sidelines, even participating in some of the activities. Your energy truly made the afternoon unforgettable! 👏

Just before the half-term holidays, we were absolutely delighted to welcome back a very familiar face: Phil, the gardener, who was part of our Estates team and dedicated many years to the Foundation, making sure it always looked pristine.

Phil’s incredible passion for botany and nature is still woven into the very fabric of our school landscapes. He returned to honour his legacy by planting a very special cutting from the original, historic Mulberry Bush over at QEGS. 🌳✨

This Mulberry Bush has been part of our history for a long time, symbolising the deep roots and long-standing excellence of the education we provide within the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation. It was wonderful to have Phil back to help us nurture the next chapter of our history.

This week, our Year 2 pupils travelled to Cliffe House for a whirlwind of excitement and adventure. It has been a joy to watch them dive into a range of exciting outdoor activities, including climbing, obstacle courses and even archery. 🥾

We have been immensely impressed by the pupils' resilience and their brilliant behaviour throughout the residential trip. A huge well done, Year 2! 👏😀
