Groups had the chance to explore Lourdes last night! 🙂
Here’s what the group got up to! 😁
St Thomas a Becket recently held its first ever Head Girl/Boy whole school election.
All candidates presented their vision for the school to all year groups in the Theatre, displaying excellent communication and presentation skills to deliver their messages as to why they should be chosen for the roles.
All staff and students voted for our Head Girl and Boy, Deputy Head Girl and Boy and one Senior Prefect by ballot.
This is an exceptional achievement for all the pupils who put themselves forward as it required preparation, self-belief and resilience- Acting within the core values of our school.
The elected pupils will act as internal and external ambassadors. They serve as role models for other students and will share their ideas with school leaders as they represent the school’s entire student body. Everyone who taken part should be very proud of themselves.
Admissions: Nursery & Reception places available at English Martyrs At English Martyrs your child will benefit from being part of a warm, welcoming and inclusive community. English Martyrs delivers a rich and stimulating curriculum from Early Years and beyond
We are incredibly proud of all the children in our school who received the Holy Eucharist in their First Holy Communion this morning. It was such a wonderful event with smiles all around. Congratulations and may God bless you always. 🕊️ ✝️ ⛪️

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week! 💜
This year’s theme is movement: moving more for our mental health.
Movement is important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to move enough.
We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help you find more moments for movement in your daily routine.
Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching TV – it all counts! 🕺👩🦽🎵
👉 All week, we’ll be sharing tips, advice, and information to help you get the mental health benefits of movement.
📢 Share what you get up to this week using !

Today, the modular village will begin to be delivered to school, with 7 modules being delivered daily until it is fully built.
Representatives of St Thomas a Becket and The BKCAT were warmly invited to the Portakabin Head Office to see a selection of the modules which will form the new St Thomas a Becket modular village.
They saw 12 (extremely spacious) classrooms, toilets, staff offices, a storeroom, and the server room. Have a look for yourself via the video below to see what the modules look like whilst under construction.
We are looking forward to welcoming pupils into the new building from September 2024.

🏃Our Y7 pupil took part in the Mini London Marathon. An event which invites schools to bring their children and young people to run, jog, walk, or wheel one mile or 2.6K in the heart of the capital.
Our pupil said 'One thing I enjoyed about the mini-marathon was the atmosphere because it gave me momentum throughout the race. The streets were lined with people cheering me on. Overall, it was a really great experience.'
🥊Our staff members were ring side to cheer on and support our year 10 pupil in their recent boxing competition. The St Thomas a Becket student won the competition and another medal to add to his growing collection, congratulations! St Thomas á Becket Catholic Secondary School is home to some amazing sports stars! Here are some of our pupils' recent achievements...
🏉One of our students, a Sandal Beast U16's girls’ player has tackled her way through to the National cup Semi Final following a victory over a very tough Stafford RFC. It was a great team performance with all 20 girls (plus our two injured players) working together to end the game with 8 tries and 4 successful conversions- Best of look to our student in the semi-finals on Easter Sunday! You will smash it!
⚽️Our year 7 and 8 girls football team won 4-2 against Outwood Grange and are now through to the semi finals of the Wakefield cup! Well-done to our very own Lionesses.
🏃Look at him go! One of our St Thomas a Becket pupil has qualified for the National Schools Championships in March after coming 2nd over all in the West Yorkshire Schools Annual Cross Country Championships held at the Grammar School, Leeds- Another fantastic achievement by one of our pupils.
The St Thomas a Becket full year 9 cohort attended the careers fair at St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School.🧑⚕️👨🍳🧑🏫👮♂️👩✈️👩🎓
At the careers fair there were lots of local FE colleges from around the district. The police, Army and NHS foundation trust were represented. Along with local business that offer apprenticeships, not forgetting local universities.
Students were able to talk and interact with all these people gaining useful information to take them further in their education journey.
🤰The NHS midwifery stall was very educational, and many students took advantage of being able to deliver a baby, something am sure they won’t forget.
Pupils commented, stating:
"In the hall when we arrived at the careers fair there were workstations with colleges, universities, apprenticeships and businesses. Each station provided you with information about what they could offer you. The fair as helped me explore my options with the future.”
“I got an insight on the various opportunities offered by the companies and the success criteria for qualifications in certain courses from universities, very engaging and knowledge packed.”
“I found the fair very helpful, going around each stall and finding out about each place was exciting because it gives you a taste of each one. I found it fun and exciting.”
Thank to St Wilfrid’s for organising the event and your hospitality.
