Hello Spring! ⛅️🐰🐣

13/03/2026

A lovely Invitation to play from our Pre School room for Mother's Day!

Intent - to continue our theme of mothers that we've been doing in Dragonflies alongside our monthly topic of animals. To deepen vocabulary and encourage conversation about own experiences.

Implementation - I created a tuff tray including the story My Home is You. I added photo cards of animals and their babies, including animals whose babies have different names such as cows and calves and sheep and lambs. Animal figures were also included and placed into a noodle sensory base to represent grass, creating a small world environment for the children to explore.

Impact - developing vocabulary as the children learnt and used new words for animals and their babies, asked questions and talked about their experiences.
Built confidence to share ideas during group time and engage in conversations with adults and peers.
Listened to and talked about stories, developing attention and understanding during shared reading.
Beginning to understand similarities and differences between different species.
Used imagination during small world play as they moved the animals through the “grass” and created their own scenarios.
