Last week we started collecting conkers and autumn treasures for our play this term. We also saw lots wild mushrooms 🍄🟫, the children said they could see the fairies flying around them 🧚 !
We’ve also had a visit to forest school, lots of learning and plenty of fun as always. We ate fruit and freshly made pancakes by the campfire🔥
We’ve explored the woods for the ‘The leaf man’ and more autumn objects. The children loved making their own leaf men as you can see 🍃🍁
We’ve enjoyed a lovely sensory set up at tots group today and incorporated lots of our autumn finds! Plenty of reading outdoors too! I love this season!!

👏🏼🙌🏼
Repetitive play is something we often see in the early years. A child might pour water again and again, stack blocks into towers every day, or wrap and hide objects endlessly.
It can be tempting to step in and think, “Shouldn’t I introduce something new?” But here’s the truth…
🌿 Repetition is deep learning.
Children return to the same play because they’re mastering a skill, exploring a schema, finding comfort in familiarity, and building confidence.
In the Scandinavian and Hygge way, we slow down, observe, and trust this process.
Instead of replacing the play, we offer gentle extensions:
🍃 New containers and sponges for water play.
🍃 Natural materials like pebbles or pinecones alongside blocks.
🍃 Fabrics, ribbons, or seasonal treasures to wrap and envelop.
Repetition is not wasted time—it’s the rhythm of learning. When we meet children where they are, and carefully enrich rather than interrupt, we show them that their play has value.
💫 In essence: supporting repetition is about trust. Trusting that the child knows what they need right now, and being present to offer subtle, thoughtful ways to deepen it.
🌿 If this way of teaching speaks to your heart, you’ll love my Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation Programme—a journey into creating calmer, more connected, play-rich practice.

What a lovely first week back last week.
Already heading in to our autumn learning. This is always our favourite time of the year 🍁 🍃 🍂
Plenty of sensory play, patting, scooping, pouring, crunching and using different equipment and utensils to build up those muscles for their gross and fine motor skills. Finding and collecting leaves and sticks for our play.
A trip to the farm to feed the sheep and the highland cows. The little ones are getting so brave, before the holidays they wouldn’t feed the cows. With some help and encouragement they fed them last week, they were so proud of themselves and wanted to do it over and over again.
Our book of the week was ‘The leaf Thief’ 🍁🐿️

**EXCITING NEWS**
Excited to let everyone know we have an allotment 🥰 our very own Green space!! 💚
This is a joint one with Hayley and Micheal from Little Peaches Childcare. It’s something we’ve spoken about for a few years and wanted to do since we worked together. It needs a lot of work and needs to be made safe for the children before we take them down there and it’s quite a large plot. But so much progress has already been made. It has a large enough area at the back for them to have their very own forest school sessions and of course we will be planting different fruits, vegetables and flowers. Because we are new to this we will be researching what we can plant and in what months, any help or pointers are welcome. As it’s coming up to the wetter and colder seasons there may not be much produce this year but we will still be going down there. We need a massive amount of compost/soil and bark once the beds have been dug over as well as buying all cordless tools due to no electric so theres some big initial costs too. If anyone knows any companies that sell the bark/compost etc at a cheaper costs please let us know 🤣. We are so excited to have this new space for us and the children and to see how much the children will benefit and learn from it. We will share some progress photos soon!

From the last few days! We’ve had lots of fun at lotherton hall, tots, the park and a home day making flower potions, water guns and watching a film as requested by T 🩵
The day has come that we say bye to T and O. As I said in my previous post it’s been a privilege to care for them, for you all to choose me to be their childminder and help them grow to be happy, confident, independent beautiful children. I’ve been spoilt rotten by their families and I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude. ❤️❤️ Tears again🥲, these little ones really do take a little piece of your heart with them. Thank you so much for the beautiful gifts, the cards and more so the words inside, they means the world ❤️ I wish you all the luck in the world my wonderful little ones, it’s been a pleasure to be a part of your first years 🥰❤️

These 3 little ones are leaving 😥 T and O for big school and Miss O for pre school nearer home. It’s been 3 lovely years looking after the boys and 2 years of Miss O. The years fly by, they become part of your family and your family grows to love them just as much too. I’m proud of how far they’ve all come, it’s been, as always fabulous to watch you grow, start to walk, talk and hear those belly laughs and watch the friendships blossom. I know they are absolutely ready for their next big milestones and they’ll continue to thrive. We’ve created fabulous memories along the way and learnt so much through our play. I’m so glad I was picked to have been your childminder all this time 🥲❤️❤️❤️. A couple more days each to go (apart from O who left today). Good luck to you all. Love always ❤️🥹😍
Although I'm not their mother.
I care for them each day.
I cuddle, sing and read to them.
And watch them as they play.
I see each new accomplishment, And help them grow and learn.
I understand their language and listen with concern.
They come to me for comfort,
And I wipe away their tears.
They proudly show their work to me.
I give the loudest cheers.
I am not their mother.
But my role is almost as strong.
I nurture them and keep them safe,
Though maybe not for long.
I know someday the time will come,
when we have to part.
But I know each child I've cared for, is forever in my heart ♥️🥹

What a fantastic day with my little ones at Cannon Hall farm. A treat day for my 3 little leavers.
So much fun and plenty for us to do. We didn’t win the sheep racing (2 had the right colour) or the ferret racing but we enjoyed watching and taking part. Lovely seeing the baby lamas, piglets and tiny donkeys too.
The last day for my little O, tears and lots of hugs all round 😥❤️🥰🥹
For now thank you so much to him and his wonderful family for my gorgeous gifts and allowing me 3 fabulous years of looking after him, the years go by so quickly and it’s certainly one of the hardest parts of the job when they leave. A seperate post for all 3 of my little leavers will be done shortly 😥🥰
