Online Safety 💻

This term in computing we will all be focusing on online safety. Check out the information from this week’s Wake Up Wednesday about Character.AI.

Character.AI enables users to create and interact with AI-powered characters that can behave like friends, mentors, fictional characters or romantic partners.

While these tools can feel engaging and emotionally supportive, they also introduce important safeguarding, wellbeing and privacy considerations for children and young people.

Our latest guide supports parents, carers and educators in understanding the risks and opening constructive conversations around AI companionship.

The guide explores:
• Inappropriate content and unreliable advice
• Emotional dependency and blurred boundaries
• Privacy concerns linked to personal information
• Warning signs such as secretive or excessive use

BBC South East Today 📰

We were so proud to see our school featured on BBC South East today, in a report looking at Year 6 swimming data. 🏊 https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m003062v/south-east-today-evening-news-11082026

The report highlighted that, despite being in the top 5% of schools nationally for the number of children eligible for free school meals, we have high numbers of our children able to swim 25m and demonstrate important self-rescue skills.

The wider data shows that children in more disadvantaged schools are often less likely to reach these swimming milestones, so this is a wonderful achievement for our children and our whole school community. The article is linked here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyq5831981o

It’s a real credit to the hard work, determination and resilience of our pupils, alongside the support of our staff, families and everyone who helps provide these opportunities.

Celebration Worship 🥳

We ended the year with our final celebration worship - and what a lot there was to celebrate!

Our final set of celebration certificates, golden tea party certificates, attendance certificates, house point totals and our new sports awards.

Well done to everyone - you have all worked incredibly hard this year and we are so proud of you all! 🌟

Year 6 Water Fight 💦

Year 6 enjoyed an end of primary school treat of having a water fight. Lots of fun was had, and they managed to soak Mrs Cook and Mrs Rofe (rather quickly!). A great memory for the end of the year!

Wimbledon 🎾

On 10th July, we were lucky enough to be able to take a small group to Wimbledon to see the semi-final matches on Court 1, which included ladies doubles and wheelchair singles.

It was a fantastic experience for everyone, being able to watch live tennis, explore the grounds and learn more about the game and the differences between singles, doubles and wheelchair tennis. 🎾

School of Pop 🎸🎶🎤

Last night, Everest class performed ‘School of Pop’ to an audience of family and friends. The children have worked so hard on their performance; learning their lines, the songs and acting in character, as well as helping make props, costumes and backdrops. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them!

Thank you to all who came to watch and support, it meant a lot to Everest class to have you all there.

Tennis Club 🎾

Our early morning tennis club has been a hit this term, with Nathan from JTS running sessions on a Thursday. The children have practised the fundamental skills, supporting them to rally, volley and play points. A fun way to start the day! 🎾
