Our Reception Class children are diving deep into our Under the Sea topic this term!

They have been creating wonderful artwork, including beautiful shells and starfish, and this week they loved listening to Tiddler. Inspired by the story, the children used their imagination to create exciting tales about why they might be late, sharing their ideas with great enthusiasm and creativity.

In Maths, they have been developing their understanding of shape by decomposing shapes and practising sharing amounts equally between two shells. Well done, Reception!

A huge congratulations to our Y3 and Y4 mathematicians who recently took part in the First Primary Maths Challenge!

The challenge included some particularly tricky questions designed to test problem solving and reasoning skills, but our children rose to the occasion with determination and enthusiasm.

We are delighted that every participant achieved either a bronze or silver certificate, a fantastic accomplishment! We are incredibly proud of their hard work and success. Well done, everyone!

What a fantastic adventure for our Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2 children as they embarked on an exciting trip to Hastings Aquarium!

The children were captivated by the incredible marine life they discovered, from giant sea bass, rays, crabs and lobsters to colourful clownfish, eels and even blacktip sharks swimming overhead. A special highlight was seeing the tiny baby seahorses, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement.

After enjoying a picnic together, the children headed to the beach where they explored, played and shared lots of laughter by the sea.

This memorable experience was the perfect way to launch our new theme, Under the Sea, and has already inspired plenty of learning, questions and enthusiasm for the weeks ahead.

¡Olé! What a fantastic Spanish Day we have enjoyed!

From Nursery to Y6, the children immersed themselves in Spanish culture through lively Flamenco workshops, exciting Spanish lessons with Señora Harriman, and some delicious Spanish cuisine!

A huge highlight of the day was enjoying tasty paella and churros for lunch, a real treat for everyone!

A very big thank you to Mrs Harriman and our amazing kitchen team for all their hard work in making the day such a memorable and enjoyable experience for the children.
¡Muchas gracias!

Y1 were delighted to share the story of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, with their families and friends during a special assembly.

The children explained how Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to help the disciples find the courage to spread the Good News. Through acting, prayers, singing and dancing, they brought this important story to life and celebrated this special occasion with great enthusiasm and joy!

And of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without cake! The children were more than happy to help enjoy the Pentecost birthday cake afterwards!

A huge thank you to all the parents and staff who helped organise and run the event. Your hard work made it possible for our children to enjoy such a memorable evening together.

What a fantastic week for music at Sacred Heart!

Our recent Spring Concerts showcased an incredible variety of talent from across the school, with performances on saxophone, clarinet, flute, trombone, trumpet, violin, piano, recorder, guitar and voice. We also loved hearing our ensembles perform together, including the String Group, Recorder Ensemble and our brilliant Y6 rock band, The Pencil Leads!

We are so proud of the progress, dedication and confidence our young musicians continue to show. A huge thank you as well to our wonderful peripatetic music teachers for inspiring so many children to enjoy and achieve through music.

What an unforgettable adventure for Y6 at Bowles!

From sunrise to bedtime, our amazing children packed every day with eight hours of exciting challenges, teamwork and fun-filled adventure!

They conquered orienteering trails, braved a thrilling night walk packed with games, sang around the campfire while toasting marshmallow, and took on skiing, rock climbing, Jacob’s Ladder and the daring Leap of Faith!

The excitement didn’t stop there… on the final day, everyone headed to the lake for kayaking and paddleboarding adventures - with more than a few pirates ending up overboard!

We are incredibly proud of every single child for stepping outside their comfort zone, showing courage, enthusiasm and resilience throughout the weekend. They were energetic, supportive and an absolute joy to be with.

Well done, Y6, we hope you feel just as proud of yourselves as we do!
