Salads and smoothies in EYFS and KS1. The children considered aesthetics , flavour and nutrition in their designs before preparing and making their food. Some bold choices and original recipes created - and of course eating them was the best part !

Dear community , we’re looking for donations to help us upgrade some play spaces in our outdoor area. We need: a bag of post Crete and various types of gravel or aggregates like pebbles to make different small world areas in some tyres we have . Picture for reference . With more cuts in budget for schools due to take effect in September we are trying to find creative ways to maintain a rich learning environment for our children without spending any money ! We are also looking for mulch to protect our newly planted trees at our Wild Tribe field . If you know anyone who can donate or if you have left overs from a garden project please call the school on 01872501431 or Miss G on 0797866955 , I have a van and am very willing to collect ! Many thanks in advance !

Today the children worked with the wonderful Roseland Environment Action Community Team - REACT once again to continue the development and re-wilding of the Wild Tribe field. We began planting a new hedge that will eventually create a natural wind break around our yurt as well as providing a home for many wild creatures. We also planted lots of trees that will eventually create copses and shelter from prevailing winds. A new shelter belt has also been planted along the external wall. It is a huge task to plant so many trees and bushes, many of which will start life in the tree nursery until they are a little stronger . Huge thanks to Nigel Hall , Simon and the other volunteers who planned the session and supported the children to get the trees in the ground. A huge thank you also for the work they do to prepare the ground and finished off the work started today. We are forever grateful for your hard work, passion and knowledge. The aim is for the field to become a wild meadow of grasses and flowers that will create habitats for wildlife as well as a series of copses and an orchard. We hope to share some of our young trees out to the community in time so watch this space. Now all we have to do is protect and water our baby trees and hedges so that they flourish !
We still need lots of mulch for around the bases and we will be speaking to local families who may be able to water the new trees over the summer holiday . Please let us know if you can help with either ! What a way to kickstart spring!

Inspiring education and achievement for life

Welcome to Veryan C of E Primary School

From our exemplary teaching facilities, to our focus on a traditional but innovative education, pupils are given an opportunity at Veryan Primary School to master their full potential throughout all aspects of the curriculum.

We firmly believe that a warm and happy school depends on us all working together, and at the heart of our school lies a deep commitment for our pupils to achieve their very best academically, creatively, personally, physically, morally and spiritually.

One of the many outstanding features of Veryan Primary School is our superb teaching facilities which enable us to ensure our children are gaining, access to the best possible education and provision within all lessons throughout the school day. We are proud to be the first school on the Roseland to introduce Wild Tribe teaching which has been based on the principles of Forest schools. It’s about young people building self- esteem and independence through exploring and experiencing the natural world.
