Why are saying goodbyes so difficult?

This week has been quite emotional as we said our goodbyes to our nursery children who are ready to embark on their next adventure.

Many of these wonderful children joined us when they were just tiny babies, moving through Pips, Blossoms, Red Apples, and finally Green Apples. Each stage has played a significant role in shaping their development, and it has been a joy to watch them grow and flourish.

I was reflecting just today about how, when families first come to visit us at Orchard, we start as strangers. By the time they leave, however, we feel like extended family members. This bond we create is truly special, and it warms our hearts to be a part of this journey with you all.

It is an absolute pleasure to be included in this chapter of your children's lives, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing things they will accomplish in the future.

Welcome to our Blossoms room!

In this space, our toddlers are delightful explorers, eager climbers, and truly enjoy engaging in messy play activities! It's heartwarming to witness the beginnings of friendships as they learn to interact and enjoy each other's company.

Every day at nursery is a new adventure, and the children arrive excited to see what the day holds. Our dedicated staff team is always on hand to support their journeys, taking care to follow each child's individual needs and interests.

We appreciate the wonderful support from our parents. When you share photos of your day trips and holidays with us, it allows us to weave those experiences into our nursery activities, enriching our children's learning with what they love from home.

Let's take a moment to talk about our Baby rooms: Pips and Seedlings!

This is where the journey at Orchard begins for our little ones. Our aim is to provide a warm and welcoming environment that helps each child settle into nursery life while supporting their parents through this important transition. Thanks to our thoughtful settling-in sessions, we make this process as smooth and comforting as possible for both the children and families.

In Pips and Seedlings, we focus on supporting every child's individual needs and development. We recognise that each child has unique needs and next steps, so we tailor our activities and learning opportunities to match. Through group activities and those precious teachable moments, we celebrate every milestone together. It brings us such joy to witness the sense of achievement in each child when they reach a goal they have set for themselves.

We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated staff team who care deeply about each and every child in our nursery. Their warmth and commitment play a crucial role in creating a nurturing atmosphere, and we greatly appreciate all they do to support our little ones on their learning journeys.

In memory of Jo Linter ❤️

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the news of Jo Linter's passing last week. For nearly 20 years, Jo has been the chef at Orchard Day Nursery, and she has truly been an irreplaceable part of our Orchard family. Jo passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a brief but challenging illness, and her absence is deeply felt by all of us.

As we come to terms with this loss, it is important to acknowledge just how much Jo meant to our team. She was not just a colleague but a friend to many, known for her warm smile, infectious laughter, compassionate nature, and fantastic sense of humour. These qualities brought joy and comfort to our nursery, making it a brighter place for everyone.

We recognise that many of our followers are families and staff who have been part of Orchard Day Nursery for many years and will also feel Jo's absence. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

We are sending all our love and strength to Jo’s family during this difficult time. Jo held her family close to her heart, often sharing how much she adored them and how proud she was of every achievement.

Orchard Explorers Holiday Club!

We have enjoyed a fantastic week at Orchard Explorers. The children have had a great time getting creative, engaging in messy play, enjoying water activities, going on field trips, picking blackberries, and much more!

Several parents have even booked their children for additional days this week, as their little ones have had such a wonderful time and wanted to return - a very encouraging sign! 🤩

Next week, we are excited to announce that a sports coach will be joining us on Monday and Wednesday for football and cricket!

Looking ahead to the following week, we are planning a Forest School trip - stay tuned for more details!

We look forward to seeing many of you next week!

Here’s a brief overview of the past few weeks...

The children have been busier than ever, diving into new activities and exploring to their heart's content.

As we prepare to say goodbye to some of our children who are heading off to school, we recognise the importance of making their final days with us truly memorable. We are committed to creating special moments and lasting memories filled with joy, laughter, and learning.

Moreover, we have settled in wonderfully at our new nursery. The children are relishing the freedom of our free-flow gardens and the additional space that encourages greater exploration and play.

Every day includes a mix of planned activities alongside child-initiated pursuits, which empower their imaginations to delve into their interests – they come up with ideas that surprise us!

We hope you are all coping well with the current weather, especially during these warm nights! ☀️
