Many parents have heard about Montessori teaching, but not all know or understand the importance of STEM teaching.

What is STEM? 🤔

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Each of STEM’s four subjects share a common approach and focus. They require gathering and using evidence to create knowledge or solve problems. STEM learning happens naturally everyday as children explore, play, and try new things. When young children have the opportunity to investigate the world around them, they learn and experiment with new STEM skills and theories. Research shows there is a positive relationship between early STEM experiences and future success in school.

Why is STEM Important for Young Children? 🧐

STEM aligns so much with the way children’s minds learn and work from a very early age. The best way to foster a love of STEM is to encourage curiosity. From a young age encouraging children to question, to explore and to play. From nursery to school STEM education will help children become innovative adults with exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills. Skills that our future generations will need in our increasingly technology driven world.
