🌏❤️ Around the World Day – The Philippines 🇵🇭

What an amazing day we’ve had celebrating the beautiful Philippines!

The children loved exploring Filipino culture by learning about different festivals, famous places to visit, and family traditions. We immersed ourselves in the fun by taking part in karaoke, enjoying traditional party games, and even joining in with some chicken-themed fun!

We were also very excited to sample some delicious Filipino foods, including spring rolls, Chicken Adobo with white rice, and Champorado. 😋

Our little people proudly made their own Philippine flags and brightened the day by wearing their most colourful outfits. 🇵🇭✨

This has been a wonderful opportunity to learn about another culture, and we can’t wait to continue exploring more of the Philippines throughout the week! 🇵🇭🌍

We love taking the time to recognise the incredible people who make The Little People such a special place every day.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Helen on celebrating 4 years with us! Our very own Tuff Tray Queen 👑, Queen of Sarcasm 😆, and one of the most hardworking and dedicated members of our team. Thank you, Helen, for everything you do and for always bringing your creativity, commitment, and humour to the setting.

🎉 Congratulations to Hayley on 3 years with The Little People! From creating delicious meals and planning amazing menus to supporting us in achieving our Healthy Setting Award, Hayley is a true superstar. Not to mention being the singing queen of the kitchen 🎤—much to Naomi’s despair 😂. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

🏆 And a special well done to Amy for winning our Staff Challenge! Amy has gone above and beyond in planning and delivering interventions that support early speech and language development, as well as SEND interventions across the setting. Your passion for helping every child reach their full potential is truly inspiring.

Thank you all for your dedication, enthusiasm, and the difference you make to our children, families, and team every single day. We are lucky to have you! 💙

We wanted to share some very special news as our wonderful Sophie begins an exciting new chapter, making the decision to spend more precious time at home with her two gorgeous boys, Theo and Blake 💙💙

While we will miss her more than words can say, we couldn’t be happier for Sophie as she embraces this special time with her beautiful family and all the adventures that come with being a mum to two busy little boys!

Sophie has been such a huge part of The Little People family for so many years, and it’s impossible to put into words just how much she means to us all. Her caring, kind and attentive nature shines through in everything she does, and her passion and creativity have helped shape so many special moments for both the children and the team.

Anyone who knows Sophie will know she brings the most amazing energy into every single day — wild, wacky, fun and full of laughter! She has a way of making everyone smile and creating such a warm and happy environment for the children, families and staff alike.

As Deputy Manager, Sophie was Naomi’s right arm — always there to support the team, guide others and lead by example. She has been the most incredible role model to The Little People team and has touched the hearts of so many children and families over the years.

Sophie, you are going to be hugely missed by us all, but we are so proud of you and incredibly grateful for everything you have given to The Little People over the years. Thank you for all the love, dedication, fun and memories.

We know your beautiful boys are so lucky to have you at home with them, and we hope to welcome you back with open arms one day when Theo and Blake have run you completely ragged! 😂

☀️💦 SPLASH DAY FUN 💦☀️

Today we extended our water play fun into a BEACH PARTY! 🏖️🌊

The children have loved exploring our brand-new beach themed area, helping to extend their understanding of the changing seasons and experiencing exciting new activities through play and discovery. 🌞🐚

Our summer splash fun today has included:💧 Paddling pools💦 Water fights🌺 Hula dancing☀️ Keeping cool in the beautiful weather🐚 Exploring beach themed language such as “splash,” “wave,” “float,” “sunshine,” and “sea” through play and conversation

The children definitely enjoyed soaking the adults more than each other today, so we think the grown-ups may need to bring even more spare clothes next time! 😂💦

There have been so many smiles, laughs, and wonderful memories made already, and we can’t wait to carry on the fun this afternoon! 😄🍉🌴

A huge thank you to all the parents who attended our School Readiness Meeting ❤️

We discussed key areas of school transition, with information and feedback shared directly from our local schools, alongside ideas and activities you can continue at home to support your child over the next term.

We are also excited to introduce our School Area Offer, where children can explore a variety of school resources including uniforms, role play resources, and activities to help develop key skills ready for school.

Please feel free to take away any resources you would like, and don’t hesitate to ask if resources have run out — we are always happy to provide more!

💚This week at preschool we have been celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Each day we completed a range of activities that helped us learn about and support our mental health and wellbeing. We explored ways to release our “happy hormones” through movement, laughter and fun activities, used the story The Colour Monster to help us recognise and talk about our emotions, and celebrated together with our famous Colour Run! 🌈

We visited the local community handing our lovely messages and flowers to spread positive messages, we particularly loved visiting our friends at bowfell House 🌸

We also enjoyed a relaxing spa day, taking time to care for ourselves and unwind, as well as Pilates in the park to help keep our bodies healthy and strong 🧘‍♀️🌿

Emotional wellbeing and emotional literacy are embedded throughout our daily practice, but weeks like this give them an extra opportunity to shine ✨

Behind the scenes, our staff team have also been taking part in their own mental health and wellbeing challenges each day — because looking after ourselves is just as important too ✨🤍

✨🐤 Our Chicken Journey at Preschool ✨🐤

What an exciting adventure we have been on at preschool! After watching our chicks hatch from the incubator, we decided to keep and care for our three chickens as part of our learning environment. The children have loved being part of their journey from tiny chicks to growing chickens.

Over the past few weeks, we have been learning all about how to look after them responsibly. The children have helped to:
✨ Keep the hutch clean and tidy
✨ Feed the chickens every day
✨ Provide fresh water
✨ Handle them gently and give them cuddles

This hands-on experience has given the children so many wonderful learning opportunities. Caring for the chickens helps to develop:
🌱 Responsibility and independence
💛 Kindness, empathy and nurturing skills
🗣 Communication and confidence
🔍 Curiosity about the natural world and life cycles
🤝 Teamwork and cooperation
🧠 Understanding of routines and daily care needs

The children are already so attached to our chickens and enjoy observing how they grow and behave each day. It has sparked lots of conversations, questions and excitement throughout preschool.

Our next stage of learning will be exploring eggs once the chickens are old enough to lay them! We are looking forward to discovering more about where eggs come from, how they are formed and continuing our farm-life learning together.

We can’t wait to share more updates from our feathered friends! 🐓🥚

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Happy St George’s Day! 🇬🇧

Today we are having lots of fun celebrating and learning all about the story of St George. We listened carefully and retold the tale in our own words, bringing the legend to life with our imaginations this morning!

The children got creative making their very own England flags, showing great pride and enthusiasm. We also enjoyed some delicious traditional English food – a lovely mini afternoon tea for snack time, followed by a classic dinner of fish, chips and mushy peas this afternoon! 🍴

Using our small world play, we expanded the story of St George even further, creating our own adventures and characters. Things got a little messy along the way, but that’s all part of the fun as we explored our learning through hands-on activities. This afternoon we are explore more sensory fun in the water and rice extending the new language from this morning!

A fantastic day full of creativity, storytelling and celebration!

🚓👮‍♂️ Special Visit from GMP! 👮‍♀️🚓

Today we were very lucky to welcome Amy and Dave to The Little People as part of our People Who Help Us theme. 👮

The children have been learning about how the police work hard to keep us safe in our community, and it was amazing to meet real officers and ask them questions.

We had so much fun exploring the police van, trying on different pieces of uniform, and seeing what equipment the police use. The children especially loved climbing inside the van and turning on the sirens! 🚨

It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped us build positive relationships and understanding of the police role in a fun and engaging way.

In preschool, we will continue to extend this learning through role play, discussions, stories, and creative activities linked to helping people in our community.

A huge thank you to Amy and Dave for such an exciting and memorable visit! 💙
