Our Animal Care students spent the summer on a once in a lifetime learning experience in South Africa.

Working alongside conservation teams, students tracked wildlife using telemetry, carried out research on rare plant species, completed team-building challenges and supported a local community project.

Experiences like these give students the chance to develop practical skills, broaden their horizons and create lifelong memories with fellow students from across SRUC.

Our Equine and Agriculture students headed to The Scottish National Equestrian Centre during Induction Week for a bit of team building.

The challenge? An obstacle course.

The result? Teamwork, a lot of determination and, of course, some healthy competition between courses.

It’s all part of getting to know your new classmates, building confidence and making memories from the very start of student life at SRUC.

AgriScot has launched the 2026 Business Skills Awards, marking 16 years of the prestigious competition, with a top prize of £1,000 for the winner, kindly sponsored by Virgin Money UK

A competition for aspiring agricultural professionals between 18 and 25 years of age from across the UK, this year’s topic is ‘What should be the top priority for Scottish agriculture over the next 25 years, and how can the industry achieve it?’

Looking for a flexible job whilst you study? Become a Student Partner! This year, our Student Partners will get the chance to work on an exciting project- the review of SRUC’s Class Rep system. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills, gain valuable experience and enhance your CV whilst making a real difference. It’s open to any SRUC student, and no prior experience is needed. Student Partners can expect to work 20 hours over the course of the academic year, at a time and pace that suits you. It is paid at the Living Wage, and you’ll be supported by a staff member.
