Happy Wednesday!

Halfway through the week already.

Sometimes the middle of the week can feel like a long stretch between Monday’s enthusiasm and Friday’s finish line. But it’s often where the real progress happens.

Just like this little visitor quietly going about its day, success isn’t always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it’s found in the unseen work:

✔️ Solving problems before they become issues
✔️ Balancing budgets
✔️ Completing compliance tasks
✔️ Supporting colleagues
✔️ Keeping schools running smoothly

The work done behind the scenes is often the work that makes the biggest difference.

Keep going—you are making more impact than you realise.

💜 Calm. Capable. Compliant. Confident.

Helping schools create capacity, strengthen compliance, and focus on what matters most—pupils.

Another fantastic morning with the Lincolnshire School Business Networking Forum at the beautiful Belton Park Golf Club.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast, networking and some thought-provoking discussions with fellow school business professionals.

We were delighted to welcome Jon Clack and Michael Oliver from Inspire+, who delivered an insightful session on apprenticeships. They explored the opportunities available to schools and how apprenticeship pathways can support workforce development, succession planning and staff retention across our settings.

We then turned our attention to the increasingly important area of safer recruitment with Simon Holden from Safehire.ai Simon shared how technology is helping schools strengthen compliance with KCSIE requirements through enhanced background screening and risk identification, including searches that extend beyond traditional checks into the deep and dark web. Fascinating, informative and, at times, a little unsettling—but a powerful reminder of the importance of robust safeguarding practices.

As always, some of the most valuable conversations came during our open forum discussions. Topics included the withdrawal of PE & Sport Premium Funding and the ongoing rollout of the DfE’s Free Breakfast Club programme, with members sharing experiences, concerns and practical considerations from their own settings.

Thank you also to our valued supporters, TIB Services and JS School Photography Ltd Kev Hall for their continued support of the group.

The morning was rounded off by excellent company, a beautiful venue and even the sight of a herd of deer running across the golf course—a perfect reminder of why networking outside the office can be so rewarding.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to another engaging and supportive session. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

A new week brings fresh opportunities, new challenges, and the chance to make a positive difference.

As the sun reflects across the water, it’s a reminder that progress doesn’t always happen in giant leaps. Often it’s the small, consistent actions that create the biggest impact over time.

Whether you’re finalising budgets, preparing for year-end, managing compliance, supporting staff, or simply keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, your work matters.

At JEM Business Consulting, we’re proud to support the people who keep schools thriving every single day.

Here’s to a productive and successful week ahead.

✨ Supporting schools.
✨ Solving problems.
✨ Creating capacity.

Peterborough!!!

📢 Peterborough School Business Support & Networking Forum

Are you a School Business Manager, Bursar, Finance Manager, Office Manager, Senior Administrator or part of a school business team?

Join us on Wednesday 24 June and become part of a supportive professional forum where school business colleagues can share knowledge, discuss challenges, access resources and support one another throughout the year.

📍 Marriott Hotel, Lynchwood, Alwalton
🕘 8.45am – 12.30pm

This term’s forum includes:

✅ Inspire+ Apprenticeships – supporting workforce development and future talent

✅ JS School Photography and TIB Services in attendance

✅ Topical discussion on PE & Sports Premium funding and the challenges schools may face following its withdrawal

✅ DfE Free Breakfast Clubs – sharing experiences, concerns and practical approaches

✅ Opportunities to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas and explore practical solutions to the issues facing schools today

Membership of the Peterborough School Business Support & Networking Forum also provides access to:

✔ A secure, private online forum where members can ask questions, seek advice, share resources and discuss challenges in a safe and supportive environment

✔ ISBL Group Membership

✔ FundEd Group Membership

✔ Access to the SBM Toolkit

✔ Ongoing collaboration, support and professional connections with fellow school business professionals

School business leadership can sometimes feel isolating, particularly in smaller schools where business responsibilities sit alongside many other roles.

Our forum provides a trusted space where colleagues can come together, learn from one another and access support when they need it most.

Because sometimes the most valuable resource isn’t a policy, template or spreadsheet—it’s knowing there’s a community of people who understand your challenges and are ready to help.

We’d love to welcome you on 24 June.

📅 Tuesday 24 June – 8.45 am – 12.30 pm

📍 Delta Marriott Hotel, Lynchwood, Peterborough

👉 Reserve your place today:

We’d love to see you there and help build a stronger school business community across Peterborough.

We are better together!!

Sunday recharge 🌊☀️

What a difference a day can make!

Blue skies, sunshine, fresh sea air and a walk along the beach with my other half and the dogs. Although if you’re counting, yes, there are three of them now! Lily, the newest member of the family, was having the time of her life splashing in the sea pools, racing through the sand and, rather surprisingly, eating some of it too! 🐾

The sea has always been my go-to place to recharge. There is something wonderfully calming about standing by the water, slowing down and simply taking a moment to breathe.

In our busy lives, whether we’re supporting schools, managing budgets, meeting deadlines or juggling the countless demands that come with keeping things running smoothly, it’s easy to forget that we need looking after too.

Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is step away, reset and come back refreshed.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday and a positive start to the week ahead.

Don’t forget to look after yourselves.
