Thrombosis UK We want everyone to https://bit.ly/TUKpatientinfo Our new campaign is "SPOT THE CLOTS". Clots can happen to anyone at any time!

Thrombosis UK is a charity working to improve understanding & awareness of life-threatening blood clots , often known as a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and PE (pulmonary embolism). Although people think of deep vein thrombosis when they get on an aeroplane, in fact the chances of having a traveller’s thrombosis is tiny. In reality the most common cause of deep vein thrombosis [clots] is going into h

ospital - so called "hospital-acquired clots"- these could cause an estimated 25,000 deaths in the UK every year if patients don't receive preventative treatment if it is needed. Our award winning "STOP THE CLOTS” campaign - we were Health Charity Of The Year in 2010 for this work - led to the prevention of clots reaching the top priority of the NHS and English hospitals facing financial penalties if they don't prevent clots. This campaign has come about from the many stories shared with us by people contacting Thrombosis UK with stories of blood clots being missed by health professionals both in the community and in hospitals. We aim to improve education of health professionals and awareness of the general public about clots.

💙 Help Us Light Up the UK for World Thrombosis Day! 💙

On 13th October, we're asking communities across the UK to help shine a light on thrombosis awareness.

Illuminating a local building, landmark, monument, hospital, community centre, business, or even your own home is a powerful way to raise awareness of the risks of blood clots and the impact they have on millions of people worldwide.

✅ Choose a visible location in your community
✅ Contact the building owner or relevant authority for permission
✅ Download and use our email template to support your request
✅ Once confirmed, let us know by emailing [email protected]

Then, take photographs and videos of your illuminated building and share them across your social media channels, website, and with local media outlets to help spread the message.
