PDA part 40: PDA: Pathological Demand Avoidance or persistent drive for autonomy or Punishments don’t apply.
Not my words. These of the words of the genius that is Lisa Lloyd aka
If you aren’t already familiar with her work, definitely take a look.
Anyway, Lisa is spot on ! Punishments Don’t Apply. Any traditional behaviour methods might in fact be damaging. Which is why I’ll go into trauma informed and relational techniques such as declarative language, PACE and WINE questions and sensory support in my online workshop.

Poland part 2: This why I love my work:
The dedication, enthusiasm and curiosity of teachers never ceases to impress me.
Today I was training at Warsaw British International school, working with primary and early year colleagues to use the sensory environment to teach and improve self regulation.
Loved taking thoughtful and reflective comments from the delegates and hearing about their unique context.
This pm I visited classroom to look at creating calm corners and regulation stations. I arrived some classrooms to find that areas had already been selected and furniture requested! Every member of staff I spoke to was already starting to think how they would use the training with key children.
I’m so glad I could help. Looking forward to hearing what they do next!
I’ll be sad to leave Poland 🇵🇱. Hope to come back soon.
Next stop; Deutschland 🇩🇪!

That time when I was at my book launch but I didn’t actually know what is in fact a book launch.
The lovely people invited me to speak about my book “The Other 29” back in May. My husband, my amazing PA and her husband came all the way from Manchester to witness the great moment and…
I spent the first 5 minutes blubbing.
They were tears of joy though. I’ve never written a book before. It’s been emotional.
Anyway, turns out it quite good and it’s now on its second print run so, if you’d like to know how supporting your neurodivergent pupil can improve teaching and learning for the other 29 pupils, why not have a read of it?
It’s free from all good libraries.

Sensory part 62: pov stop teaching neurotypical emotions. Neurodivergent children may have a different physical experience of emotion to NT peers. Which could explain why some cannot describe or name their emotions. Share your thoughts 💭. Want to know more? Book me for training www.neuroteachers.com
