Austria Concert Tour - Day 7/8

After an exceptionally competitive Tour Quiz (an annual and hotly fought event) on the evening of Day 6, we awoke yesterday to face the mammoth task of packing, cleaning rooms and checking out of rooms – honestly, if parents had seen the various versions of floordrobes which were active in most rooms throughout the week, they would break out in cold sweats!!

We had a free morning, which gave everyone the last chance to make use of all of the extensive facilities at the hotel, from the pool and outdoor sports courts/pitches, to the 3 gaming rooms in the hotel (Xbox, Wii & Playstations) and the tabletennis barn – a great opportunity to get rid of energy before the scheduled 31 hour return journey to Ulverston!

However, after leaving at 12.45pm yesterday, and despite numerous accidents and roadworks in Germany and France, we arrived at Calais 4 hours ahead of time, caught the 6.15am ferry and enjoyed, for the first ever time, a clear journey from Dover to Ulverston, arriving at school at 3.45pm (only 28 hours after setting off)!

This group of students has been exceptional in all aspects of this tour – the hotel commented in the highest possible terms about their behaviour and manners, as did the coach company, and the quality of music-making was amazing.

Here’s to next year’s concert tour, wherever that may be to…

Penalty shoot-out final
Today was the final of the UVHS World Cup penalty shoot-out and Mr Murray, who has been an exceptional keeper throughout the competition, suddenly suffered a severe loss of form: perhaps it was the sun; perhaps it was lingering feelings of sadness after last night's loss; most likely he just wanted to see the teachers get soaked!
Thank you to parents and students for the kind donations to Cancer Care and thank you to students and staff for taking part.

Some of our year 9 students had the opportunity to go on the Developing Resilience Course at the Blue Light Hub. Students had a great time developing their teamwork and communication skills, whilst learning how to run hoses, climb ladders, use cutters for RTC’s, and develop their search and rescue skills.
We would like to thank Jason, Danny and the Ulverston Fire Fighters for once again allowing us to have this opportunity.

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Tomorrow is the final of our World Cup penalty shoot-out. Running alongside this, children will have the opportunity to score a penalty and soak a teacher for a small contribution of 20p per shot (cash only) ⚽️⚽️⚽️ 💦🔫
