📊 Headline Attainment Data 2025/26

A huge well done to all of our young people and staff!

We are still analysing our attainment data with the local authority, but we are pleased to share some of the positive headlines so far. There is a lot to celebrate, particularly given some of the challenges we faced during 2025/26.

We also know there are areas where we need to improve. Over the coming weeks, every subject area will meet with the Head Teacher and Depute Head Teacher to look closely at results, identify areas for development and agree next steps.

We are still waiting for further attainment information, including achievements through college courses and other qualifications and awards, which are an equally important part of recognising the success of our young people.

Our values of Ambition and High-quality Learning & Teaching mean celebrating what has gone well while continuing to look at where we can do better.

Well done everyone – there is a lot here to be proud of! 👏

We are delighted to announce that the First Step Fund is now accepting applications.

This fund is aimed at young people aged 11–25 who are looking to try start a new club/activity. Starting at a club often incurs various expenses—such as purchasing equipment, paying sign-on fees, or covering transport costs. The First Step Fund is designed to ease that financial burden, successful applicants will receive a £100 grant.

We would like to thank the Lochbroom & Ullapool Community Trust Community Benefit Fund for making these grants possible.

This week, we are carrying out a short HT Welcome Back Survey with all pupils.

The survey is deliberately brief and gives pupils an opportunity to tell us how things are feeling at this early stage of the new school year – including how settled they feel and whether they know where to go for help and support.

We regularly seek feedback from pupils throughout the year, and these short surveys help us identify anything we may need to look at more closely.

We’ll use the feedback to help inform our work over the coming weeks and will share some of the key messages with pupils afterwards.

📱 Mobile Phones in Schools – Have Your Say

The Scottish Government is currently consulting on plans to restrict the personal use of mobile phones in schools as part of the development of new legislation.

We would encourage parents/carers, pupils and others in our school community to take part and share their views.

At Ullapool High School, pupils are currently not permitted to use mobile phones during class time.

🍎 A healthy start to the school day! 🍌

We are pleased to be able to offer free fruit and a snack to pupils every morning, with toast also available on Wednesdays.

We know that being ready to learn starts with having our basic needs met. Providing something to eat in the morning is a simple but important way of supporting wellbeing, inclusion and readiness to learn.

It also reflects our WE REACH values – particularly Wellbeing, helping to ensure that every young person can start their school day positively.

There is no charge and no need to sign up – pupils are welcome to help themselves. 🍎🍞
