Time..... a week with Eleanor K White and the brilliant Lorraine LG Thomson where we explored both creative writing and images around the theme of TIME. All thanks to the trust of the group who plunged their precious artwork into a bucket of dye each evening and then came back in the morning to the surprise!
Disappearing and reappearing stories moved us from writing to art, losing and finding, slowing to find breathing spaces and taking time to be....
Thank you also to the lovely Luisa who kept us fed and watered all through the week!

Travelling as a painter we go slow, take time to sit and look and enjoy the sensory experience of being in a place that is not home for us. We meet people in a different way, move through the landscape quietly to see and hear birds.
Sit at cafes and let the world go by always with a sketch book. If this appeals to you then this painting tour which is led by Rufus Reade www.rufusreadetours.com and taught by myself Eleanor White welcomes you as a beginner or an experienced artist.
Some lovely images here to tempt you to join us painting in Armenia.
Contact Rufus or myself directly for the last remaining place.

A massive thank you to Kate Kate Boucher for all her generous teaching this week, it was wonderful to see her work alongside us, to hear her process and see how drawings were built slowly into rich tones.
We quickly got to work and slowly settled into the pace of working in this way. Beautiful work created from all and a lot of learning to take away. Thank you everyone who took part in creating personal landscapes in charcoal.

Hello Summer School 2026!
We got off to a flying start with 'Noticing' looking at small scale work out in the vast landscape of sunny Ullapool. (It did rain a wee bit!) Working through mixed media mark making, printmaking and circle cradle boards in acrylic.
Thank you everyone for being such excellent students and having fun as well as working hard!

Getting ready for the beginning of the 2026 summer school I was rummaging around and found this photo from a workshop long ago of a budding young artist! It's the talented Dan Murray who does the most exquisite paintings.

I got in touch with him today and pinged him the photo and he got straight back with the second image! So great he kept that little mosaic..he was so patient when making it.
He obviously has immense patience, just one look at these two paintings one of Janee seated and the artist's Mum Sally says it all.

It's such a privilege as a teacher of art to see people devote time and energy to the joys and challenges of being an artist. Well done Dan. You were always a brilliant artist!
