Beul-Aithris / Folklore (English below)
An-dè, chaidh sinn sìos a thràigh Ùige a dh'ionnsachadh cuid a sgeulachdan a tha ceangailte ris an àite sin, mar phàirt dhen topaig Beul-aithris a th' againn an-dràsta. Chuala sinn trì sgeulachdan mu na fir-thàileisg agus sgeulachd mu fhuamhaire a bha a' fuireach ann an Dùn Bhorranais. Chaidh sinn dha na diofar àiteachan agus chuir sinn pàirtean de na sgeulachdan an gnìomh. Na-measg bha sgeulachd mu balach beag cuagach air an robh Alasdair a bha beò aig an àm sin agus bha gu mòr ag iarraidh nam fear-tàileisg fhaicinn. Mas math ar cuimhne, tha cuimhne aig cuid ann an Ùig fhathast air an seann-phàrantan ag innse dhaibh mu Alasdair agus e na bhodach, agus e fhathast a' bruidhinn mu na fir-thàileisg a chunnaic e. Leis nach b' urrainn dha Alasdair coiseachd, ghiùlan a charaidean o Chradhlastadh a-null a dh'Eadar-Dhà-Fhaodhail e air an druim - mar sin, dh'fheuch sinn fhìn an cuairt sin a ghabhail le caraid air ar druim! Bha fìor dheagh fheasgar againn, agus tapadh leibh gu Alex, Fraser, Coinneach agus Alasdair ann an Clas 6-7 a dh'aithris na sgeulachdan dhuinn cho grinn.

Yesterday, we went to Uig Sands to learn some of the stories connected with the place, as part of our Storytelling topic this term. We heard three stories about the chessmen and a story about a giant who lived in Dùn Bhorranais. We went to the different places and acted out parts of the stories. Amongst the stories, was one about a boy from Crowlista who couldn’t walk but wanted desperately to see the Chessmen in Ardroil, so much so that his friends took turns to give him piggy-backs across the beach - and so the children decided to try the same route giving each-other piggy backs across the beach. We had a fantastic afternoon, and a big thanks to Alex, Fraser, Coinneach and Alasdair in GM6-7 who told the stories so well.
