This week at St Philip’s, all of our children enthusiastically took part in Science Week, tackling the exciting “egg drop” challenge! Working in teams, they carefully designed and built creative structures to protect an egg from cracking when dropped from a height. The effort, teamwork, and problem-solving skills on display were fantastic, and it was amazing to see so many innovative ideas in action. We are so proud of how hard everyone worked and the brilliant designs they created!

On Wednesday, we were delighted to host the Athletics Afternoon alongside four other local primary schools. The event was organised and run by the students and staff at Uckfield College. Children from our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 classes took turns to take part in a range of Athletics events against children from the same year groups. Our children were praised for their good sportsmanship and behaviour throughout the afternoon.

Once all the results had been collated, we were delighted to find out that St Philip’s came 1st in the Year 6 events, 1st in the Year 5 events, joint 1st in the Year 4 events and 2nd in the Year 3 events! This means that we were the overall winners of the event, which is a fantastic sporting achievement!

Well done to all the children who took part!

Yesterday, some of our Year 5 children visited Worth Abbey to take part in a special Mass alongside pupils from a number of other primary schools within our Diocese and the wider area. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together in faith, celebrate our shared community, and experience worship in the beautiful surroundings of Worth Abbey.

Yesterday, Year 6 had a wonderful day at Plumpton College for a 'Farm to Fork' day. Children cooked their own lunch, led by a professional chef. They also toured the dairy farm to see where the produce comes from.

Last week, EYFS and Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic 'All at Sea' Day as part of their learning. The children looked amazing in their sea-themed costumes and took part in a range of exciting activities throughout the day. Year 2 children created beautiful clay tiles inspired by the sea, while EYFS enjoyed a pirate-themed obstacle course, which included the challenge of walking the plank! A highlight of the day was the treasure hunt in the forest area, where EYFS and Year 2 worked together to search for hidden treasure. Well done EYFS and Year 2 for a fantastic day!

Year 4 had a fantastic time at Drusillas on Tuesday. They surveyed the entire park, considering the animals' adaptations and habitats. They were even lucky enough to meet a few creatures as well, which included a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, a Rat, a Snake (non-venomous, just in case you were worried) and a Bearded Dragon. It was a wonderful day, and I thoroughly hope the children enjoyed it as much as the adults did. Thank you to Ms. Danis and Mrs. Page for supporting us on the day.

As part of our St Philip's day celebration Mr. Davis organised an exciting morning for our Key Stage 2 children. Each member of staff had a station where the children were given a task to complete; they had to work together in order to complete the task using problem solving skills and teamwork to achieve points for their team. The children, and grownups, had a fabulous morning in the sunshine. Thank you to Mr. Davis for taking the time to organise our morning and leading us in our St Philip's day celebrations💚
