🌟 Welcome Back! 🌟

We are delighted to welcome all of our children back to school today and hope they have a fantastic first day in their new year groups!

As they begin this exciting new chapter, they will take part in a ‘Learning to Learn’ week, giving them the opportunity to refresh and develop the skills they need to become super learners. Using the Skills Builder skills, they will explore how these skills can support them both in and beyond the classroom.

We hope everyone has a wonderful day getting to know their new teachers, settling into their new classrooms and reconnecting with friends. Here’s to a fantastic year of learning, growing and achieving together! đŸ€©

Zebras had a lovely end to the term with a special Knight Day celebration! They had a medieval breakfast of bread and ‘wine’ (grape and apple juice), made catapults and flags before getting knighted by our very own Queen Smith. We finished the day by being jesters and doing our own talent show!

Pandas have had an exciting and productive time exploring electricity under the topic title “Bright Sparks”.
We found out what electricity is, how it has been harnessed and which scientist/explorers gave us the most important inventions we still use today. In English, we enjoyed the rich text “The Iron Man” - class reading, drama, immitating the extraordinary author, Ted Hughes, then innovating our own, all lead to writing our narratives. In Science, we learned how electric circuits work, made switches and sorted materials into conductors and insulators. In DT, we made different types of axles, devised our cars then created electricity circuits to add a light.

We’re incredibly fortunate to offer such a fantastic range of after-school clubs here at Manor, giving our pupils even more opportunities to explore new interests, develop skills and have fun beyond the classroom.

Hot off the press — our exciting new clubs for Term 6 are here! We can’t wait to see the children getting involved and making the most of these opportunities.

Zebras had an amazing time at Hever Castle. We were shown around by a tour guide and the children asked lots of interesting questions! We saw lots of defence methods used in the castle and linked this back to our learning. It was a lovely trip and gave us lots of knowledge to use as we train to become knights of Manor school.

This week the children have been introduced to the artist Yvonne Coomber. She is known for her use of colour and bold artwork. They used their colour mixing skills to create the sky and grass. The children then used different brushes and flicked the paint onto the paper. They certainly had lots of fun using this method to create their artwork!
