The National Year of Reading is well underway and we are very happy to share that we have some fantastic new books for pupils to borrow in the HP Library.

The NYoR is very much about children reading for pleasure and about what interests them. At the end of the summer term, we asked pupils what they’d like to see in our school library. We received a wide range of suggestions, including non-fiction books on topics such as:

• Sports - sailing, football, skateboarding etc
• Hobbies and Crafting – Fishing, Chess, Crochet, Knitting, Papercrafts
• Cooking and Recipes
• D&D, Warhammer
• Manga, Pokemon, Animation
• General Knowledge – Film, Art, Science, History, War, Astronomy, Music etc
• Books from local authors and about the local area

As the library provides books for children ranging in age from Y5 – Y11, some titles are suited to different age groups. Titles which are suitable for older pupils have been identified and labelled.

Library Opening Times:

Morning Break: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Middle School Lunch: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Senior School Lunch: every day

Over 75 pupils from year 3 to year 10 travelled to take part in the English Schools Athletics X-Country Cup (Secondary) and the Primary Northumberland County Championships.

The junior boys (Y7/8) qualified in the morning session for the regional finals in Middlesbrough.

In the afternoon we had 3 winning teams with the Year 3 and 4 boys triumphing alongside the year 6 girls team who have now won every single year since they were in year 3!

A huge congratulations to all of the runners who took part and represented our school in a tough competition!

Book marks made in our Y7/8 book club yesterday morning. Our Book Club members selected Skellig by local author David Almond for our first book and were very excited to be able to take these home today.

Our Sixth form Open Evening is tonight.

Whether you're joining us in September 2027 from another school or moving up from Year 11, our Year 12 Open Evening is the place to explore your A Level options, meet subject teachers, and find out about the support, enrichment and destinations that shape life in our Sixth Form.

Kings Priory School was delighted to support the launch of ‘Matthew’s Meals and Miles’ yesterday, in memory of our former pupil Matthew Adams.

Staff and pupils brought a splash of Hawaiian colour to the day and handed over a cheque to the value of £2650 to Children’s Cancer North, who are running the initiative, to help kickstart their work. We are incredibly grateful to the pupils, staff and wider community, in coming together to support this cause. Thank you.
