We are hoping to kick off the 2024-2025 GA Tyne and Wear talk series with the following talk.

On 26.11.24 – Gill Miller with deliver her talk ‘Dealing with Disease: whose responsibility is it?’ and we are delighted that this talk will be the ‘Cath White Memorial Lecture’ for this academic year.

For those of you with students, Gill’s talk will have some great links to disease, population and globalisation as well as going beyond the curriculum too, exposing students (and us!) to new geographies. Could I please ask those of you who teach to also share this with your science departments, so that any interest biologists might also attend.

Cath White Memorial Lecture from Alan Parkinson.
He will present on “Professional zest and pedagogical longevity: the importance of everyday geographies” which will have relevance to educators, students and those with a genuine curiosity about geography.

When/where?
On July 9 at 4:30 – 6pm (doors open at 4:30pm, talk beginning at 5pm) but taking place in Room A003 In The Ellison Building (A Block) at Northumbria University.

Room A003 is located on the ground floor of Ellison A Block, on the left hand side of the main corridor as you enter the building.

As ever – it would be fantastic to see as many of you there as possible! We will be in touch over the summer, with details of next year’s programme too, as soon as it is finalised.
