Our children are fascinated by the theme under the sea, from the bright colours to the animals.
Depicting a coral reef, our nursery staff made an incredible tuff tray filled with colourful pasta for the children to enjoy sensory play. They are becoming familiar with different sea creatures and enjoy imaginative play with them.

The children are having a lovely week, focusing on mark making.ππ¨
Using many different objects and tools, they made marks of different sizes and textures. They made footprints in playdough using toy animals, painted dots using cotton buds and their fingers, and painted bubble wrap to identify the different textures of the materials.
The children are able to work collaboratively and discuss the marks they make with each other and our nursery assistants, recognising that each tool makes a different shaped mark.

Learning about sea life, the children have enjoyed many fantastic activities and crafts this week. The majority of the art was made from recycled papers. We spoke about the different kinds of animals living under the sea, names and shapes, and the different plants and colours we may find.π

The children have made their very own pizzas as part of their topic on food. First, we practised applying food from our home corner, selecting and identifying our favourites and having discussions on where they came from.π₯¦π½
Understanding what we eat is a part of physical and personal development for the children and learning about its origins promotes a healthy relationship with such.
We also practised making dough and colouring it with paint, using our hands to mix and playing with it after. This was an excellent tool for imaginative play and a great foundation for creativity amongst the preschoolers together.βΊοΈ

Continuing on with our fun learning around eating this week, Olivia made a fantastic vegetable garden for the children to explore with the toy dinosaurs.π₯¦π₯¬
In preschool, topics of discussion included promoting healthy eating and learning the names of vegetables through sensory play.
The children are furthering their personal, social and emotional development and by learning the names of vegetables are improving their understanding of the world.π

Preschool are learning about food this week. The children were provided with a range of colours to help them acknowledge differences in fruit and vegetables. The separation of colours imitates the eat well plate and the range that should be promoted for a healthy diet.
Preschool recognised and organised colours and food groups. We also practised role play and some of the children cooked us a meal!
The children have developed their personal, social and emotional care, physical development (eating) and furthered their understanding the world.

Happy Friday! The children have had a brilliant week learning about food, shapes and the weather.
They have enjoyed time in the garden, racing on trikes and playing in the learning snug. Playing in the garden, the children able to easily access toys and trikes in the garden, allowing for independence as they can fetch them by themselves.
The children have many opportunities to explore the outdoors throughout the day and using spatial words during everyday play and routines encourages children to understand if they are going inside or outside.

Learning about food this week, the children enjoyed imaginative play in the kitchen. This is a collaborative task children can do together through role play.π
Our preschoolers also created their own cupcakes using different coloured paper, while learning which letters different foods begin with. They are beginning to recognise different letters independently.π§π

Learning about the weather, the children have created their own weather charts to put on display in the classroom.
The children understand that they cannot go outside without their coats and may need a hat, scarf or gloves. They can identify if the weather is cold, or wet and then know to wear the appropriate clothing for the environment they are in, encouraging their independence.π§βοΈ

The children have enjoyed role playing making hot chocolate, using shaving foam as cream and pom poms as marshmallows.
Engaging in role play and imaginary play scenarios allows children to model their listening behaviours and reenact behaviour they may see in everyday life. Representing numbers in role play, such as price lists, supports the children to develop a sense of numbers.

Our nursery children enjoy being outdoors no matter the weather. They are able to put their coats on themselves, as they are aware of wearing the appropriate clothing to play outside, on the climbing frame, with the toys and on the trikes.
The garden allows for the children to have maximum space to move, stretch, and benefit from energetic play.π

Thank you to everyone that attended our recent Preschool Christmas concert. The children worked so hard to learn the words to various Christmas songs and were very excited to perform in front of their parents in the school theatre. The children have developed their confidence and it has been wonderful to see them grow this term.βπ
Thank you to all the staff involved!π

Our children have loved using different sensory trays this week. Thank you to Olivia for setting up this fabulous elf tray.
The children assessed the pattern to support their mathematical development, before making their own pattern with the different colours, to improve their fine motor skills. We also looked at graphemes and practiced our phonics, with the children noticing that some letters are bigger than others.π
