We saw the full moon last week and couldn’t stop imagining 🌕🎨 So we made one: different colours, textures, shooting stars, cute critters, and even inviting tiny aliens having a moon party! 👽✨

💧 What does water actually look like?

For our Water Texture topic, our Mini Muses explored how to create the feeling of movement, depth and texture using layers of colour.

🎨 Colour combinations
🌊 Layering
〰️ Organic shapes
✨ Experimenting with different marks and materials

Rather than copying a finished picture, the children explored different ways to create water — then used what they discovered to develop their own artwork.

🎨 From an idea to a whole creative experience.

For 3rd Anniversary, we didn’t just run an art activity — we helped bring the creative vision to life from start to finish.

✨ Designing event graphics
🖨️ Preparing and printing materials
🌸 Developing the citrus flower arrangement concept
🎨 Creating a large communal artwork for everyone to contribute to
🖌️ Live portrait drawing
💡 And bringing new creative ideas to make the event feel fun, colourful and memorable

Same theme, but completely different colours, compositions, and imaginations—each one showing a unique world above and beneath the water. 🌊🐠💙 So much creativity in such little hands! 💕

🌸🍋 Flowers, but make them a little more fun!

For 3rd Anniversary, we created a communal flower artwork — and instead of ordinary vases, we turned citrus fruits into colourful little flower vases! 🍊🍋

The idea was to keep it playful, creative and a little unexpected — and let everyone add their own flower to the growing artwork. 🎨

Different flowers, different styles, all coming together to create one big piece made by the Patch community. 💛

Thank you to everyone who picked up a brush and added their own little touch!

🎨 Before GCSE Art… what did students actually do?

Did you know the first GCSE exams were taken in 1988?

Art & Design became part of this new qualification system, recognising art as more than just a hobby. 👩🏻‍🎨

Because art isn’t simply about being “good at drawing.” It’s about developing ideas, experimenting, problem-solving and learning to think creatively.

And these skills can start developing from a young age. 💛

✨🇯🇵 A very special trip to Japan! 🇯🇵✨

Our Mini Muse students Boyee and Kayee flew all the way from London to Japan to receive their Golden Awards at the Sakura Art Award! 🏆🎨

It was such a special experience for them to see their artwork exhibited and admire so many other incredible winning artworks from young artists around the world. 🌸

So proud of you both! Keep creating, keep exploring, and keep believing in your artistic journey. 💛✨

Mom: Only one scoop 🍨
Us: 🤔🤔

Instead of eating extra ice cream 🍦, we can paint it!
We picked our own ice cream flavours, vanilla, chocolate, and fruity vibes. Then we went full topping mode—sprinkles, caramel drips, crunchy bits, berries… you name it, we drew it. 🫐

Mom saw the results and asked us to draw one more scoop for her!💕

The amazing thing is, children can do so much more than we sometimes think when they’re given the right techniques, guidance and confidence to try. 🎨💜

It’s not about being “good at art” — it’s about learning, experimenting and discovering what you can create.

And seeing their faces when they realise “I made this!” is the best part. 🥹🩷

One simple switch: compliment on what you actually see. 😄 You can also try asking about the colour choice 🎨 and the story behind it 📖

Scribbles aren’t “wrong” they’re usually representing movement! 🌀 If you are not sure what those lines mean, don’t shut it down, encourage them to tell you more about it. 🤍

Help without taking over. ✨
Try to offer choices instead of asking them to draw what you expected.
