Today is International Friendship Day. The Otters have explored a 'Friendship Cafe', where they were tasked to fill their jars with all the ingredients that make a good friend - kind words, listening, helping each other, taking turns and of course, having fun.
They also thought about kind words to say to each other before practicing writing their names on the gift tags. The children worked on their mark making skills, fine motor and building and developing new and existing friendships!
The children spoke about ways to be kind to one another and drawing pictures of themselves to fit into a lovely 'We all belong together' puzzle craft.

This week, Badgers have been exploring their senses through natural resources. We collected materials from outdoors to make 'potions' in the water tray, explored mint-scented playdough, painted with blackberries, and enjoyed a fun "What's in the Box?" circle time game, using our sense of touch to guess hidden objects.

On Friday, Squirrels took a trip to Paint and Go and they got very messy! The children loved exploring the paint with their hands and different types of brushes and sponges. They had such a good time they all fell asleep on the walk back!

On Saturday, Otters had their annual leavers party. We had a teddy bear picnic party with party games, food and a presentation of gifts! It was wonderful to see so many families there to celebrate! We wish all of our leavers good luck for their next adventures - we will miss you all!

On Monday, Otters celebrated National Ice Cream Day by having their own water play ice cream parlour. The children used their fine and gross motor skills to pick out their flavours, with a choice of cone or cup. They then matched their flavour to the colours on the board before establishing how much they needed to pay. Then, the children found the corresponding numbers on the pieces of wood to "pay" for their ice cream. Some of the children also tested their mathematical skills, adding together two numbers to reach a total amount.

Badgers have been talking about what makes each of us unique. We have been looking at the colour of our eyes, the colour of our hair, and the different features on our faces. The children enjoyed noticing similarities and differences.

Yesterday was national ice cream day and squirrels had lots of fun! We added some sprinkles to some ice creams on the chalkboards then enjoyed 2 different messy trays. One tray was filled with moon sand which the children practiced scooping and the other was filled with shaving foam which got very messy!
