Year 6 were invited to Tonbridge School last Wednesday for an incredible day of activities, from games and rock climbing to watching very well-behaved marching ducks!

This was a day of excitement as our students faced engaging and new challenges with opportunities to experience new things. They got to meet students from other local schools, which encouraged new friendships with some children they will be moving to secondary schools with in September.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Sports Day and Summer Fair last week. After a slightly wet start, the activities got underway and we were blown away by the turn out, involvement and support.

We've had such positive feedback regarding the range of activities with carousel and races, fair stalls and the opportunity to have a picnic lunch with children on the field.

Whether you came with an umbrella for our morning session or a sunhat for the afternoon session - thank you for supporting our students. A big congratulations to team purple, our 2026 team winners!

The children who have been attending After School Club this term have been having fun creating all sorts from forts and dens in the classrooms to clay models and pencil toppers.

We had another lovely day at Forest School with Reception and Year 1. We have three Forest School rules - To 'Look after yourself’, ‘Look after the Environment’ and ‘Look after your Friends’. Today’s activity was concentrating on your friends.

We asked the children to find a friend and then choose a different colour of wool each. We used a technique called 'Nordic Braiding' to make the friendship band. The children swung the wool to each other one colour at a time, and it made a beautiful braid. It did take a long time, so the children needed to show some resilience and patience to keep going to have a long enough braid to make two friendship bands. When they had finished, they loved having a band which matched their friends.

The rest of the children enjoyed digging, den building, games, role plays and a lot of running around.

Last Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 classes had the opportunity to visit the Assembly Hall to meet with author Jamie Smart, the creator of the highly popular 'Bunny vs Monkey' books.

The children had the opportunity to sketch along with Jamie, who drew characters step-by-step for the audience to copy. Some of these were utterly fantastic and we are very proud of the children who asked their questions to the author in front of a packed auditorium.

Thank you to the Amelia Centre who gave us the opportunity for this visit.

After weeks of glorious weather, it was a bit of a shock to have a cold wet Forest School last week! It was lovely to see Reception and Year 1; they were very enthusiastic and had remembered all of our safety rules well.

We started both sessions by reading the fantastic book 'Odd Dog Out', which tells the story of a Sausage dog who discovers that it’s a good thing to be an individual. Then the students got the opportunity to make their own Forest School 'Log Dog'. The students chose a log, then found leaves and natural treasures to make its eyes, nose, and tail. They then made it a coat with wool and added a lead so they could walk them. All 'Log Dogs' looked fantastic and the students loved the activity.

It has been fantastic to see all the children in KS2 having the opportunity to swim last week with each session bringing new skills and confidence, different types of swimming aids, games and, for some, the first experience of a new sport which has been a real highlight to their school day.
