Last Friday Little Oaks and Pre-school went for a walk to the woods!
We spent the morning talking with the children about what they might see, they were very excited!
During the walk we explored lots of different types of plants, sticks and insects and the children even had an activity pack to fill in.
Once we arrived in the woods we sat and had a cracker, had a lovely discussion about the walk and they ticked the things they had discovered.
It was a great way for the children to explore the natural world around them along with learning about road safety along the way! 😊

Little oaks 🌳

Little Oaks have shown lots of interest in cars and vehicles recently; so we have created a road for our cars to follow and tunnels to go through helping develop their understanding of prepositions whilst playing with what they love.

Little Oaks have also been enjoying their mark making; creating their own pictures within the picture frames, using their fine motor skills to do this.

This morning Little Oaks loved getting involved in the process of making cloud dough! They used their senses to smell the Apple flavoured conditioner. They then used their fine and gross motor skills and held a spoon to mix the conditioner with the cornflour. 😊

Preschool 🌳

This week we've been practising our gross motor skills! These are the big physical skills that are essential for building up core strength and individual muscles, without practising this it is difficult for our fine motor skills to develop.

Our obstacle courses are a great way to build on muscle strength and tone, build on their balance and even practise crossing our bodies natural midline. These are all essential to our pre-writing skills😊

Preschool - Getting to know me.
Preschool have been exploring an open-ended loose parts provocation this week as children have been transitioning into our preschool room.
Using wooden rings, colourful pom poms, shells, googly eyes and wooden pegs, the children were invited to create themselves and family members.
There were no right or wrong ways to create. The children were encouraged to use their own ideas and make independent choices when selecting the different resources.
A simple invitation to play but such a meaningful way of helping us get to know the children and for them to get to know each other.

We enjoyed garden time where we practiced our throwing and catching skills.
