Starting A-Level Drama? These three playwrights are worth exploring before your course begins.

🎭 Henrik Ibsen, particularly A Doll’s House, is a great starting point for exploring naturalism, melodrama and feminist theatre.

🎭 Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls offers plenty to explore around language, character development and feminist ideas.

🎭 Harold Pinter’s One for the Road is a powerful example of political theatre and shows how a small cast can still create a strong performance.

Struggling to find critics for your English coursework?

One good place to start is with books that introduce critical perspectives without making them difficult to follow.
