Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Tunbridge Wells

We would like to reach out and see if there are any local nurseries that would be interested in starting a SEN networking group, this would provide us with the opportunity to meet up have group discussions and offer one another support and professional guidance around SEN, looking at inviting in various guests and trainers.

Our idea is to have a meeting once a quarter held here at Monkey Puzzle, please drop us an email if this is something you'd be interested in joining [email protected]. We would love to invite you to visit our sensory space and this would be incorporated within our first agenda. We would also love to hear your feedback and ideas for the initial agenda.

Our 2-3s had a lovely nature walk yesterday, spending some time in the sunshine! ☀️

We spent time looking at a bug hotel and observing different insects, being quiet so we could hear the birdsong as we looked for nests. 🐞🐛🦟🪲🐜🦅🦜
We then took some time to collect different sticks and made our own bird's nest! We found an amazing tree that was just perfect for climbing! Our younger children were introduced to risk-taking, and voicing whether they felt comfortable climbing higher or if they wanted to make their way back down.

Over the weekend, we also hosted our yearly summer party, this time with a festival theme!
The children were given glasses and wristbands upon arrival to help them get into the festival spirit! 😎
We had a fabulous time partying in our rave room, doing target practice with footballs, playing hook a duck, having our nails done, and having amazing festival face paint, hair styles, glitter, and tattoos!
A wonderful BBQ was cooked by Ros and Jo, along with a tasty spread of food, with the main showstopper being Ros' graduation cake! 🍔🥗🎂

A huge thank-you to our magical staff team, who always go above and beyond to make our celebrations so special for the children! 🎊

We hope all who attended had as much fun as we did!🐵🤍

🎓G R A D U A T I O N🎓

On Saturday, 37 of our preschoolers enjoyed a special graduation ceremony to celebrate all their achievements during their time at Monkey Puzzle!
The children walked down the red carpet, took turns to receive their certificates, and sang some songs!

“We watched you learn your ABCs,
and how to share and tie your shoes.
You built tall towers to the sky,
and bravely shared your brightest news.
Now it is time to say goodbye,
We know you'll do amazing things.
Go spread your wings and step right up,
to all the joy that onward brings.”

A few pictures from our most recent Forest school sessions! 🌳
The children followed various recipes and created their own mud pies, incorporating counting, measuring, pouring, and social skills to work together. They hurried around the forest, collecting different natural resources in line with what was on their recipe cards. 🧑‍🍳🍴
The children also used cameras to take pictures of our “pets” and the scenery around them. Looking back on the photos through the eyes of a child has been so heartwarming, with a few funny snaps of the teachers! 📸

We are delighted to share the details of our graduation and our summer bbq below! 📝

For our school leavers, our graduation event will begin at 11am and finish at 12pm. Please ensure your child is at MPTW for 10:50am so we can get them into their caps and gowns🧑‍🎓👩‍🎓

Our main summer event, is festival themed this year, think neon, summer vibes and lots and lots of glitter! This is open to all of our families💛

A messy day = learning through play! 🫟

Children learn to make sense of the world around them through hands on activities where they can be creative and have opportunities to explore. 🌏

Studies show that sensory play supports children to develop crucial brain connections and supports cognitive growth. At Nursery, we explore sensory play in a variety of different methods, whether this is through paint, sand, water, sawdust, jelly, clay or even through exploring soil whilst planting!

Sensory play can be used as an invitation to play, where additional learning opportunities can be added to further support a child’s development. As children begin to make more sense of the world around them, we see them start to clarify and classify textures, senses and concepts, such as shiny, dull, spiky, soft or loud!
