We took Earth Day pretty literally this year 🌍

After thousands of wood-fired pizzas and over a decade of harsh winters, our beloved cob oven was in need of some TLC — and who better to give it the love it deserves than Leslie with 25+ years of experience under his belt.

Cob is one of the oldest building materials on the planet. The ingredients? Clayey soil, straw and water. That’s it. Zero carbon footprint, completely natural, and when its days are done? It simply returns to the earth. 🌍

Did you know that soil contains a natural bacterium called Mycobacterium vaccae which stimulates serotonin production? Getting your hands in the earth literally makes you happier. 🌿

A huge thank you to Leslie for all his help. There will be lots of happy children this summer enjoying wood fired pizzas thanks to his kind support 🙌. Fun fact — Leslie’s daughter came to camp with her school back in 2018, when were filming and she got to meet the one and only John Craven. Small world! 🌍

Throwback to the first photography workshop at camp last summer with Ruth . Nettle and willow leaves were collected and steeped in water before being mixed with vitamin c and washing soda to create a plant based developer. A pinhole camera captured the scene and film was then developed in a pop-up dark room. The opposite of a quick snap on a digital camera and a whole lot more fun!

Disconnect from digital distractions and reconnect with nature on a 5 night/6 day summer camp in Cornwall. Camps run every week between 21st July and 23rd August for children aged 8 to 15.
