I have worked within animal welfare for over 30years including 14 years as Head of Rehabilitation for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Along my own journey I have had the privilege of working alongside and learning from amazing dog experts around the world including John Rogerson, Ian Dunbar, Sue Sternberg and Jean Donaldson as well as the thousands of dedicated staff & volunteers; all with the determi
nation to make a positive difference to the lives of thousands of traumatised, abused and abandoned dogs. Over 130000 dogs are surrendered to UK shelters every year, plus an estimated 60000 dogs imported from Europe and not forgetting the increasing demand for designer breeds. Rescue Shelters can't continue to do the same things; they need to make a real change......to utilise their resources; their experienced staff, site facilities and the dogs themselves to strengthen their presence and reputation within their communities. To continue their vital work of rescuing and rehoming as many dogs as they can shelters need to reconnect with the communities they serve...to find those people who want to be a part of this work that matters for people who care.
