The History and English cohorts of 2025–26 finished their training year on a real high.

We were privileged to visit The Story of Emily - an immersive museum experience that completely blew us away with the powerful story it tells.

Cornwall is incredibly fortunate to have a museum of such outstanding quality, and we're equally proud to be celebrating a group of newly qualified teachers of the same calibre.

Today we would like to thank Mark Turner for his incredible contribution to mentoring History teachers across Cornwall.

Mark exemplifies everything a brilliant mentor should be: dedicated, generous with his time, endlessly resourceful, and always willing to support others. Throughout his career, he has helped countless teachers develop their practice, grow in confidence, and improve outcomes for young people.

As he begins his well-earned retirement, we want to express our sincere gratitude for everything he has done for History education and SCITT in Cornwall.

Thank you, Mark, for your friendship, sincerity, and dedication. We wish you a long, happy, and fulfilling retirement.

On Tuesday, we welcomed our new Cornwall SCITT cohort for 2026–2027, and the energy, excitement, and passion in the room set the tone for an incredible journey ahead.

From first introductions to programme insights, today was all about connection, meeting fellow trainees, getting to know the SCITT team, and taking those first confident steps into teacher training. The commitment and enthusiasm shown already remind us why this work matters so much.

This cohort brings a fantastic mix of experiences, strengths, and aspirations, and we can’t wait to see each of you grow, collaborate, and thrive over the coming year. You’re joining a supportive community of mentors, tutors, and partnership schools who are ready to champion you every step of the way.

🌟 What a fantastic experience at the Cornwall Education and Skills Festival at Truro and Penwith College !

The Cornwall SCITT team thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to engage in some excellent professional development, connect with colleagues from across the education sector, and take time to reflect on key current priorities in education, including the vital topic of inclusion.​

We were also delighted to deliver our coaching session, sharing ideas and best practice with staff from a wide range of education settings across Cornwall. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm for developing coaching approaches that support
growth, reflection and professional learning.​

Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and helped make the event such a success. We left feeling inspired, informed and excited for the year ahead! 👏🍎​
