This is a really unique opportunity for creative writing work experience in Cornwall!

We are delighted to offer work experience placements to Year 10 and Year 12 students once again. This year’s content creation project will focus on Cornwall’s Creative Heroes, with students producing work that will be shared online.

Join The Writers’ Block to explore, reinterpret and celebrate Cornwall’s creative heroes understood broadly as artists, writers, performers, makers and activists who have shaped the county’s creative identity.

Participants will be based at The Writers’ Block in Redruth, where they will explore different ways of writing, develop their own creative voice, and learn how to write to a brief.

Through guest speakers, writing activities and guided discussion, students will explore different creative practices and perspectives, develop their own written responses, and gain insight into how writers and creatives work, collaborate and build sustainable creative lives.

The programme will be a fun, fast-paced experience, with mentoring and guidance from professional writers throughout the week.

Dates: Monday 6 July – Friday 10 July 2026
