📣 It's not too late to take part in the MEI FE Maths Challenge 2026/27

As colleges prepare to welcome students for the new academic year, now is the ideal time to get involved.

The challenge helps students studying level 2 maths and below build confidence, develop problem-solving skills and experience maths in a fun and collaborative way.

With ready-made schemes of work aligned to your curriculum and classroom-ready resources, it's easy to introduce the challenge into your teaching from the start of the year.

Last year, almost 60,000 students across 124 colleges took part, progressing through classroom, college and regional stages on their journey through the competition.

What happens when students who switch off from maths start getting involved? 🧮

That's what colleges are seeing through the MEI FE Maths Challenge.

More than a competition, the challenge provides activities and resources that help students experience maths differently through teamwork, problem solving and shared achievement.

For many students studying level 2 maths and below, it helps build confidence and encourages greater participation in lessons.

As colleges prepare for the year ahead, many are using the challenge as a valuable teaching and engagement tool.

🎓 Supporting students preparing for the TMUA?

For students applying to maths-rich degrees, the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) can feel quite different from classroom maths — so having the right preparation matters.

Our Preparing for the TMUA course helps students build confidence with unfamiliar, test-style problems and develop practical strategies for tackling them under timed conditions.

We offer two live start dates to fit different application pathways:

📅 31 Aug – for students applying to Oxford, Cambridge & Imperial
📅 2 Nov – for students applying to other universities using the TMUA

Apply here:

https://buff.ly/Eus2Vqo

If those dates don’t work, students can access the same course through our on-demand option - covering the same content in a flexible, self-paced way, anytime and anywhere.
