As we reach the end of another wonderful year, we'd like to wish all our children and families a happy, safe and fun-filled summer holiday.

Thank you to our incredible staff and supportive parents for everything you've done this year.

To our amazing Year 6 children, we're so proud of you. As you begin your next adventure, be brave, be kind and believe in yourselves. We know you'll go on to do wonderful things.

We had such a fantastic day with Jamie Knight Learning lots of freestyle football tricks. The workshops, football sale and after-school Masterclass were fantastic!

The Avon Valley Runners are a local running club based in Trowbridge who have a Youth section for children aged 11 and above.

This week, some of Year 6 had the opportunity to take part in a free session with leader Debbie at the Rugby Club, to see if it is something they would like to take up and also to find out how to improve their stamina and running fitness. They all enjoyed the different games and activities, especially the water fight at the end!

The rescheduled Freestyle Football WOW day is tomorrow, Tuesday 21st July.

All the original plans and timings stand and everyone can wear their PE kits for the whole day. ⚽️

On Thursday, we will welcome Freestyle footballer Jamie Knight to Castle Mead. He will perform his tricks to the school and then teach the children from Reception to Year 6 some tricks too! His visit is generously being funded by the Friends of Castle Mead - Events Page - thank you so much!

👕 The children can wear their PE kits to school all day.

⚽️ Jamie will be selling signed footballs on the playground at 3:15pm (cash and card accepted).

⭐️ Jamie is also running a Masterclass between 3:30-4:30pm for 40 children. This costs £10 per child (cash only) and can only be booked in advance at the school office. There are 15 spaces left.

We did it! We completed our challenge to complete 150 junior parkrun UK events by the end of this term, and yesterday we took our total up to 151!

Overall, 26 Castle Mead children have run at King George V junior parkrun on Sundays since the 30th November. Some were already regular parkrunners before the challenge, but others tried it for the first time and kept returning week after week.

We have seen lots of wristbands awarded for different milestones and many smiles in the park. Well done to everyone involved!

What a great morning at Southwick Country parkrun today! All the hard work and effort from our community run club since January, culminated in a 5k run/walk in the park on a glorious morning. 🏃‍♀️☀️

Well done to everyone involved...now let's see if we can reach our junior parkrun target tomorrow at King George V junior parkrun.🤞

Horseshoe Bats had a fantastic afternoon on Friday! The children worked brilliantly as a team, filling barrels with the hose and carefully wheeling them to the field. We rounded it off with the best water fight in the sunshine—one of our wonderful end-of-term treats.

This week, Year 4 'wrapped up' their History learning about the Egyptians by making their own Death Masks. These were once used to decorate a mummified pharaoh in their tombs. We think they look great!

Year 6 had a huge water fight this week with some of the staff. No-one was left dry and everyone was a target! It was a lot of fun that we hope our outgoing cohort will remember for a long time.

Year 4 really enjoyed their visit to The Egg Theatre, Bath today to watch The Secret Garden.

They were captivated by the story telling, atmosphere and puppets to tell the story of a young, orphaned girl finding happiness in a garden. Thoroughly recommend for all ages!
