West Ashton C of E Primary School and Nursery

West Ashton C of E Primary School and Nursery West Ashton C of E Primary School and Nursery is a happy school based in the village of West Ashton. Our school community is led by Mrs Alex Thwaite.

The children are taught in 4 classes:

Mrs Jenny McAteer and Mrs Kirsty Bayford teaches Foundation Stage, which is reception and nursery
Mrs Sandra Meehan teaches Year 1 and 2 in Explorers Class
Mrs Laura Osayamwen teaches in Year 3 and 4 in Discoverers Class
Mr James Gilbertson teaches Year 5 and 6 in Voyagers Class. The teachers work closely together across the school to provide rich learning experiences for all the children. This starts with a strong emphasis on the core and key skills in reading, writing and mathematics, mixed with and extended by activities that engage the children with their learning and make it fun for everyone. Our Foundation Stage Outside Classroom and school field give us plenty of room for outdoor learning, while our quiet area and garden of reflection provide opportunities for more contemplative learning and development. The school has strong links with St John's Church in West Ashton and have several services throughout the year in the church. We hope that this page will give you a taste of what we can offer and look forward to welcoming you at the school if you would like to come and visit.

What a wonderful astronomy-themed evening at West Ashton C of E Primary School and Nursery last night. Greeted by the Head Teacher, Miss Alex Thwaite, at the gates and with staff and Friends of West Ashton helping to set up, it made it easy work for Roger Hyman and Simon Holbeche to get everything ready as pupils arrived in onesies.

The school had laid on evening catering and refreshments so we set up telescopes, craft activities, and the mobile planetarium.

It all went off swimmingly thanks to the well organised team at the school and even the clouds restricting our view didn't stop the learning and fun as we rolled out the paper rocket launcher...

Come and Join Us for Carol Singing at the School.

Due to some concern regarding temperatures dropping in the evenings and if people will be willing to make the trip back up to school on Friday evening. We have made the decision to alter the format of the carol singing event.

We will now ask the children to gather on the green area on the driveway beside the school to sing their carols and play their guitars so the whole school and families can enjoy some festive singing at the school collection (3:15pm).

We would like to welcome the village to join us too.

FOWAS will be providing refreshments at the school entrance if you would like to enjoy something warm while you are enjoying some festive entertainment.
