SPEND THE FINAL DAY OF THE YEAR WITH US: Staff Edition! ☀️ 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏼

We kicked off our staff & family day in the morning with a blissful yoga session led by our very own qualified instructor, Mentor Mel - perfect way to stretch out the term and set the tone for a day of fun!

Then things got competitive with staff rounders (we’ve got a few secret athletes! 🤫 👀), followed by a relaxed picnic in the park and some questionable party tricks performed by some staff! 🥴🙄🤣

Huge thanks to the entire team across both of our Millennium & Langstone sites for making it a brilliant end to a long summer term. Switch off and have a restful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready to go after the Summer break! ☀️ 🌊 🏖️

We are officially closed for the Summer! ☀️

Wishing all of our families an amazing summer! Stay safe, relax, and make wonderful memories. Our mentors have their out-of-office on and will not have access to their emails during the break.

Mel and Josh are also taking a well-deserved rest, but remain contactable by email for urgent queries relating to each of their sites. They’ll respond at their earliest opportunity.

We’ll be in touch towards the end of August with reminders about return dates, first sessions, and any timetable or staffing changes. Enjoy the sunshine - see you all soon! 👋 🏖️ ☀️ 🌊

Today we said a fond farewell to two of our wonderful mentors, Meg & Kizzy. We know our learners and parents/carers will be just as sad to see them go - their dedication, kindness and guidance have made a huge impact on everyone they’ve worked with. We wish you both the very best for your next chapter - you will be greatly missed! 🫶🏽

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED 🥇 💪

Naturally, the main topic of conversation at SAS Mentoring this week has been tonight’s Semi-Final World Cup Game 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This morning in the hub, there was a discussion around challenges. This led to a really insightful conversation with staff and learners on how England as a team have built so much skill through practice which can be said about any individual and any task or activity they may come to face.

Staff (and learners) were then challenged by a learner to complete what that they thought would demonstrate attempting something you wouldn’t necessarily be good at, especially without practice! 💡

Some of us discovered hidden strengths and some of us built resilience by trying and trying again. The moral of the story? Figuring these things out means that we are able to transfer these strategies easily to other situations. By not giving something a go, guarantees that you won’t improve or know what might have been possible and we were able to change our thought process from “I can’t” to “I’m learning.”

I think the biggest difficulty staff faced was figuring out if they were left or right handed this morning 🤦🏽‍♀️ But here’s a little snippet of the challenge in practice! A couple of bloopers may have snuck their way into the end of the video 👀

We’re looking for enthusiastic, resilient and compassionate mentors who can build positive relationships with children and young people, supporting them to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

✨Hours - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9-3
Tuesday 9-4
✨Salary - £21,500-£24,500
✨31 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

🌱 Trainee Mentor Opportunities
Always wanted to work with children and young people but worried you don’t have the right experience? Don’t let that put you off! We’re also recruiting Trainee Mentors. If you have the right attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine passion for helping others, we’ll provide the training, guidance and support you need to develop into an outstanding mentor.

✨ Hours - Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9-1
Tuesday and Thursday 9-3
✨ Salary - £14,323 - £15,871
✨ 24 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Essential requirement:
🚗 A full UK driving licence is required, as our mentors work across Wiltshire supporting learners in a variety of settings.
