✨ That’s a wrap on another incredible year at Rainbow Early Years! ✨

Today we celebrated our wonderful Class of 2026 as they graduated from preschool, and what an emotional, joyful and truly special day it has been. 💛🌈

On behalf of everyone here at Rainbow Early Years, I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing children, parents, carers and families for your continued support, trust and kindness throughout the year. It has been a privilege to be part of your children’s early learning journeys and to watch each and every one of them grow into confident, kind, curious and capable little people.

To our incredible Class of 2026 – you have been nothing short of amazing. We have laughed together, learned together, celebrated so many milestones and created memories that we will treasure forever. Watching your confidence blossom, your friendships grow and your personalities shine has been such a joy. We couldn’t be prouder of every single one of you, and we know you are going to do incredible things as you begin your next adventure at school.

On a personal note, as Manager of Rainbow Early Years, I just want to say what an absolute pleasure it has been to lead such a wonderful preschool and to share this journey with all of our families. Every child who walks through our doors leaves a lasting mark on our hearts, and this year’s leavers have certainly done just that. It has been an unforgettable journey, and I feel incredibly proud and privileged to have been part of it.

To our children moving on, spread your wings, believe in yourselves, be kind, be brave and never stop being curious. We will miss each and every one of you more than words can say, but we know you are more than ready for your exciting next chapter.

Thank you for making the 2025–2026 academic year one to remember. We wish all of our leavers and their families every happiness and success for the future.

🌈 One More Sleep… 🌈

Tomorrow is a day filled with smiles, proud hearts, and maybe a few happy tears.

It feels like only yesterday your little ones walked through our doors, holding your hands, taking those first brave steps into preschool life. Since then, we’ve watched them grow into kind, confident, curious and capable children, each one leaving their own colourful mark on Rainbow Early Years.

As they prepare to spread their wings and begin their next adventure, we want them to know just how incredibly proud we are of every single one of them.

A Little Poem for Our Leavers

Today you stand so brave and tall,
Though once you seemed so very small.
With laughter shared and friendships made,
You’ve grown in every game you’ve played.

☀️⛺ A Wonderful Week of Summer Adventures at Rainbows! ⛺🍉

This week, we have continued our Summer theme, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring all things holidays, camping, and outdoor adventures!

Throughout the week, the children have been talking about their own holiday experiences and discussing the different types of accommodation people may stay in, including tents, caravans, and hotels. We also explored the different modes of transport we can use to travel to our holiday destinations, with the children sharing whether they had travelled by car, train, plane, or even boat.

Our role play area was transformed into a busy campsite, where the children immersed themselves in imaginative play. They loved pretending to go on holiday, checking their friends into the campsite, asking whether they had brought any pets along, and cooking delicious meals over the pretend campfire. Hot dogs, marshmallows, and lots of other tasty treats were on the menu! The children gathered around the campfire to share stories and conversations, and we also discussed the importance of campfire safety, helping the children to understand how to enjoy fires safely with the help of trusted adults.

In the creative area, the children used a variety of junk modelling resources to design and build their own sandcastles, showing fantastic imagination and problem-solving skills. They also explored brick printing to create textured sandcastle artwork and enjoyed citrus fruit printing, experimenting with different shapes, patterns, and colours to create beautiful summer-inspired pictures.

Following their own interests, the children independently selected the magnetic tiles and stickle bricks to build their own tents, camping equipment, and miniature campsites for our little people figures. It was wonderful to see them extending their learning through collaborative play, creating imaginative holiday adventures and working together to solve problems.

🍉 A Special Summer Lunch 🍉

On Wednesday, the children enjoyed a very special campfire-themed lunch, bringing our role play to life. Afterwards, they each made their own delicious watermelon pizzas, carefully choosing and arranging their fruit toppings before enjoying them together. It was a lovely way to encourage independence while celebrating our summer theme.

💦 Keeping Cool in the Sunshine

With the warm weather continuing, we have made the most of our outdoor environment by providing lots of exciting water play opportunities to help keep everyone cool. The children have had so much fun splashing, pouring, transporting water, and enjoying collaborative games, and it’s safe to say there have been lots of smiles from both the children and staff!

We also enjoyed a wonderful mark-making activity outdoors, where the children used paintbrushes and water to trace a variety of shapes. As they worked, they confidently named each shape aloud, developing their early mathematical vocabulary, pencil control, and pre-writing skills in a fun and engaging way.

It has been another fantastic week full of imagination, creativity, exploration, and laughter. We are so proud of the wonderful ideas the children continue to bring to their learning each day.

☀️🍦 A Wonderful Week of Summer Fun at Rainbows! 🍦☀️

Despite this week’s heatwave, we have still managed to enjoy a fantastic range of summer-themed activities while ensuring everyone stayed as cool, safe, and hydrated as possible.

Our role play area was transformed into a busy ice cream shop, where the children became ice cream servers and customers. They enjoyed filling out their own order forms, taking orders from their friends, and creating delicious imaginary ice creams. This encouraged lots of imaginative play, mark making, communication, and turn-taking, alongside some wonderful mathematical language as they counted scoops and discussed different flavours.

Our summer tuff tray was filled with sand and a rock pool, giving the children the opportunity to explore what they might find at the seaside. They carefully examined different sea creatures, seaweed, rocks, and shells, sparking lots of conversations about the animals that live along our coastline and in the sea. It was lovely to see their curiosity and knowledge continue to grow.

To extend this learning, the children also completed rock pool counting sheets, carefully searching for different sea creatures, counting how many of each animal they could find, and then practising writing the correct numerals. This was a fantastic way to develop their observation skills, early counting, number recognition, and mark making, all while linking beautifully to our summer theme.

Outside, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a citrus sensory tuff tray, investigating the different fruits using all of their senses. This naturally led to the children wanting to make their own fresh orange juice, which they absolutely loved! They squeezed the oranges themselves, talked about where fruit comes from, and enjoyed tasting the juice they had made together.

In our maths area, the children continued developing their early subitising and number recognition skills through a fun ice cream-themed activity. Each ice cream cone displayed a numeral, a subitising pattern, and the written number name. Using tweezers to strengthen their fine motor skills, the children carefully picked up the pom-poms and placed the correct number onto each cone. It was fantastic to see them becoming increasingly confident with recognising numbers in different ways.

Throughout the week, we have enjoyed lots of conversations during our group times about summer and the changes we notice at this time of year. The children shared their own experiences and talked about warmer weather, sunshine, holidays, and spending time outdoors. We also discussed how to stay safe in the heat, including the importance of wearing sun hats, applying sun cream, drinking plenty of water, and keeping cool.

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful families for your continued support during this very hot week. A special thank you to those who kindly brought the staff ice creams and fresh fruit to help keep us cool—it was such a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. Your kindness never goes unnoticed.

Today, we celebrate all the wonderful people who provide love, guidance, support, and care to the children.

Whether you’re a dad, stepdad, grandad, uncle, foster carer, guardian, mum doing both roles, or someone who simply shows up every day with patience, kindness, and encouragement – today is for you too.

Thank you for the life lessons, and the countless ways you help children grow and thrive.

🌞 Important Heatwave Update 🌞

Dear Families,

With external temperatures forecast to reach 36–37°C this week, we will be closely monitoring conditions throughout the day to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and staff.

As many of you know, we operate from a mobile building, which can become extremely warm during periods of high temperatures. If internal temperatures reach unsafe levels (approximately 35–40°C), we will be required to carry out a risk assessment and may need to consider temporary closure if we cannot safely maintain a suitable environment for the children.

To help us keep everyone as comfortable as possible, please ensure your child:

☀️ Arrives wearing loose, lightweight clothing
☀️ Has Factor 50 suncream applied before arrival
☀️ Brings a named water bottle, which we will refill throughout the day
☀️ Wears suitable summer footwear where possible
☀️ Brings and wears a named sun hat

Please avoid sending children in jumpers, trousers, welly boots, or other heavy clothing, as these can make it much harder for them to stay cool in the heat.

Children will be regularly encouraged to drink water, and we will be adapting our daily routine to minimise heat exposure wherever possible. During periods when the UV levels are at their highest, we will be avoiding outdoor play and activities, opting instead for indoor activities or shaded areas to help keep children safe from the sun and extreme heat.

An Amber Heat Health Alert is currently in place, and we are monitoring the situation very closely. We will do everything we can to remain open, but the safety of our children and staff must remain our priority. Should we need to make any changes, we will communicate with families as early as possible.

🚂🚗⛵ A Week of Transport Adventures at Rainbows! ✈️🚜🚲

This week, the children have been busy exploring the exciting world of transport! We have been learning all about different modes of transport, discussing the many vehicles we use in our everyday lives and discovering how they travel on land, water, and even through the air.

The children have taken part in a variety of engaging activities throughout the week. One activity focused on early story sequencing, where the children had to listen carefully to instructions, cut out sequencing cards using their scissors, and then place them in the correct order. This supported their developing listening and attention skills, fine motor development, and storytelling abilities. We were so impressed with the concentration and perseverance they showed during this activity.

Our provision has been filled with all kinds of vehicle play, with children enjoying cars, trains, boats, and more. They worked together to build roads, tracks, and transport routes, using their imaginations to create journeys and adventures for their vehicles. Water transportation play was particularly popular, with children exploring how boats move through water and experimenting with different floating objects.

One of the highlights of the week was our role-play area, which was transformed into a giant Thomas the Tank Engine train station! The children took turns being conductors, handing out tickets and welcoming passengers aboard. Together, they contributed ideas to create their very own Rainbow Early Years train timetable, deciding where the train would travel and at what times. Their destinations included the park, Peppa Pig World, the beach, the shops, and many more exciting places. The creativity, communication, and teamwork shown during this role play were wonderful to see.

In our creative area, the children used junk modelling resources to design and build their own vehicles. We saw some fantastic creations, including cars, boats, tractors, and other imaginative forms of transport. The children carefully selected materials, solved problems, and explained the different parts of their vehicles.

Another favourite activity involved attaching pens to toy cars and driving them across large sheets of paper. The children were fascinated by the colourful tracks and patterns the vehicles created and enjoyed experimenting with different movements to see how the marks changed.

🚂 Our Real-Life Train Adventure! 🚂

On Thursday, we embarked on a very special Rainbow Early Years train trip to Bradford-on-Avon. The children were incredibly excited as they collected their tickets and boarded the train at Trowbridge Station. Once we arrived in Bradford-on-Avon, we enjoyed time playing in the park before sitting together for a lovely picnic lunch. Afterwards, we boarded the train once more and travelled back to Trowbridge.

The children absolutely loved the experience and have spent today talking about their adventure. There were so many smiles, excited conversations, and memorable moments throughout the day. It was wonderful to see the children making real-life connections to everything they had been learning about transport during the week.

☀️ A Little Reminder

As the weather continues to get warmer, please can all parents and carers remember to send children with:

* Sun cream already applied before arrival. We will apply more throughout the day.
* A sun hat
* Spare clothes
* A water bottle- these will also be refilled when needed.

We will be providing lots of exciting water play opportunities next week to help the children stay cool while enjoying the sunshine.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful parents who contributed to our Tray Bake Thursday, and to everyone who came along and purchased some delicious treats. Your support is greatly appreciated!

All money raised will go towards our efforts to build a new home for Rainbow Early Years, helping to ensure that Rainbows can continue for many years to come. 🌈

We still have a selection of bakes left, which would make the perfect treat for Father’s Day or simply a yummy treat to enjoy over the weekend! 🌊🐠 World Ocean Day at Rainbow Early Years 🐚🌊

Today we celebrated World Ocean Day with a range of exciting ocean-themed activities that encouraged curiosity, creativity, and environmental awareness.

Our children explored an ocean investigation tuff tray, where they discovered different sea creatures and underwater treasures. They also enjoyed a sorting and counting activity using sea creatures and shells, helping to develop their early maths skills through hands-on learning.

To further develop our mathematical thinking, the children created delicious ocean-themed fruit kebabs, focusing on recognising and creating patterns as they carefully threaded the fruit onto their skewers.

At our creative art station, the children used a variety of resources and materials to create their own ocean-inspired pictures, talking about the waves, sand, seaweed, and all the wonderful things that make up our seaside environments.

We also focused on the story Somebody Swallowed Stanley, which helped us introduce important conversations about caring for our oceans. The children took part in a story-based activity and learned, in an age-appropriate way, why it is important not to throw rubbish into the sea or leave litter on the beach. We discussed how pollution can affect marine life and the environment, helping our children develop an early understanding of how we can all help protect our planet.

It was a fantastic day filled with exploration, creativity, healthy eating, mathematical learning, and developing an appreciation for the world around us. 🌎💙
