Today reminded me that progress isn't always loud.

Our girl Maeve is autistic and usually happiest in her own little world. Today, her younger brother had been crying for around ten minutes. Without anyone asking, she walked over, wrapped her arms around him, and gave him a cuddle.

To many people, that might seem like a small moment.

To us, it was huge.

Over the past few months we've noticed more of these little changes. A few more words. Unexpected little sentences that fit the moment. More awareness of what's happening around her. More smiles shared with others. She's beginning to reach out in her own beautiful way.

Every child develops differently, and there's no race to the finish line. We celebrate the tiny victories because those tiny victories become life-changing milestones.

I have 13 kids. I home-educate them. I'm building an AI edtech platform from scratch.

I'm Mark I built an AI startup in the gaps between nappy changes and homework battles. Here's why!

Look at this photo. That's my actual office hours: a baby mid-handover, a toddler in a princess dress refusing to negotiate, a teenager perfecting the art of the eye-roll. This is what "building a startup" really looks like when you're also home-educating a big family.

Here's the thing that started it all: I watched my own kids hit a wall. Not because they weren't capable because the system wasn't built for how they actually learn. One-size-fits-30 doesn't work. It never did.

So I built the thing I wished existed: sparkai.org.uk an AI tutor edtech platform that adapts to your child, explains things five different ways until boom a spark of understanding, a tutor that is there at 10pm when the homework meltdown hits (not three weeks later at parents' evening).
