Actionwork uses creative activities to deal with, explore and challenge difficult issues including bullying, racism and homophobia. We also provide skills training, INSET for teachers and workshops for students, parents and professionals. We make films with and for young people and we produce the annual anti-bullying roadshow. We produced the UK's first national anti-bullying conference for young people. We produced the world's first anti-bullying festival. Actionwork specialises in educational theatre and theatre for communities. In addition to producing high quality theatre we tackle issues of bullying, violence, racism, homophobia and drug misuse. We produced Britains first ever national anti-bullying conference for young people in 2003 and the worlds first festival and largest anti-bullying event in 2006. Films include 'Silent Scream', 'A taste of Tie', 'Violence in Camden', '1000 Voices', 'The anti-Bullying Spies' and 'How to Stop Bullying'. Amazing!

Anti Bullying Week is getting closer.

Schools, families and organisations are beginning to think about what they might do this year, so this feels like a good time to introduce a new home for this page.

AntiBullyingWeek.co.uk is now live.

The new website has free activities and resources, ideas for Anti Bullying Week 2026, information and support for schools and parents, research, the history of Anti Bullying Week and perspectives on bullying from around the world. There are also some rather different ways to explore the subject, including the Definition Wheel, the Bullying Metro and an interactive Globe.

But the website isn't intended to tell everyone what anti bullying work should look like. Instead, I hope it encourages people to explore, question, talk and develop approaches that make sense for their own young people and communities.

And there's one question at the heart of it: Do we make anti bullying work for young people, or with them?

The website is independent and free to use. Have a look around, try things out, and please share anything you think might be useful to someone else.

When does something online become harm?

A joke. An image. A share. A laugh. Then it spreads.

Our new free 2-minute safeguarding film, When Does It Become Harm?, invites young people to explore online behaviour, responsibility and the choices that can change what happens next.

There’s no single correct answer.

The film comes with a free, no-prep Watch • Discuss • Play • Reflect classroom activity for KS2–KS4.

When did it become harm?
Who could have changed what happened?

Free to use and share with schools and educational settings.

We keep saying it: theatre changes lives.
But when we claim “transformation,” what do we actually mean, and what evidence backs it up?

Romancing the Change: Theatre. Power. Transformation. challenges the grand impact stories often told in applied and social theatre, and asks a sharper question: when does hope become a claim. This isn’t anti-theatre. It’s pro-honesty, pro-rigour, and pro-young people’s power.

Watch it, then tell me: what would count as real evidence of change for you?

We keep saying it. Theatre changes lives. But when practitioners claim “transformation,” what do they actually mean, and what evidence backs it up. This short...
