Trefeglwys Printmaking

Trefeglwys Printmaking To teach a non toxic approach to printmaking. I was introduced to etching in 1986 when I joined Aberystwyth University School of Art as their senior technician.

I instantly fell in love with the process and made it my preferred media for creating art work. After a period of ten years I became aware that the toxic elements of the process were affecting my health. It was because of this that I spent a period of two years developing a non toxic etching ground 'BIG' . BIG has been independently analysed by a laboratory specialising in art products and BIG now

caries the safety code. You can purchase BIG from my website, Intaglio Printmakers, Lawrence's and Takach in USA. I run bespoke workshops for those who would like to know how to use BIG in all its different ways, from icing sugar or sandpaper aquatints, soft ground and coffee lift and much more. We are lucky to have a cottage next to the studio which guests can rent for a modest sum while they are on the course. Please drop me a line for more details.

What a privilege to be invited by Chiara Chimirri to run a BIG printmaking workshop at her lovely studio Il Fondo in Florence. It was attended by a group of talented and knowledgeable printmakers which made the experience all the more special.

Chiara is an inspiration to all aspiring printmakers wishing to set up their own non-toxic print studios around the world.

Thanks to Roberta Feoli for making the connection between us which made this all possible.

Until next time, Italy! Now, back to Wales ❤️

The first part of our Canadian BIG printmaking trip has been a wonderful experience up in Fort St John with Print Artists North!

Such a talented group of artist printmakers who were a pleasure to work with. Thanks to Linda for all the excellent organising and hosting, and to Kate for her wonderful support. Special thanks too to Rick, Charlie and Mary for their hospitality. Looking forward to our next workshop at the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists in Edmonton! 🇨🇦
