๐Ÿงฉ The power of puzzles! ๐Ÿงฉ

Puzzles may look like simple play, but they are packed full of learning!

They help our preschoolers develop concentration, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills - all important skills for drawing, writing and getting ready for school.

Puzzles also encourage children to recognise and match shapes, patterns and pictures. These visual matching skills help prepare children for recognising and linking letters, patterns and words, building important foundations for their first steps into reading.

They also teach perseverance, independence and that wonderful sense of achievement when the final piece fits!

Learning through play at its best! ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ‚ Little Explorers Adventures! ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒฟ

Our Little Explorers had another fantastic adventure in the conservation area today!

The children were given cards with different treasures to find, including a feather, an insect, a twig and a coloured leaf. They had great fun searching high and low, looking carefully at the natural world around them and proudly ticking off their discoveries.

A particular highlight was visiting the neighbouring garden, where the children got to see all the wonderful pumpkins growing! They loved hearing about how pumpkins grow and seeing them up close.

But possibly the most exciting discovery of the day was a great big slug hiding in the conservation area! The children were incredibly proud of their find and couldn't wait to show everyone.

Another lovely morning of exploring, discovering, talking and learning together. ๐Ÿ’š

Our children have absolutely loved exploring the diggers and dumper trucks, moving gravel to and from our gravel pit! ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿชจ

These boys spent most of the afternoon immersed in their play, busying themselves with the trucks, chatting and sharing ideas as their game developed. It was wonderful to watch their friendships grow as they worked alongside one another, communicated their ideas and created their own little world of construction play.

Having uninterrupted time to explore, imagine and develop their own games is so important for children. Being able to return to a role-play game they have started allows them to build on their ideas, extend their imagination and take their play in new directions.

Sometimes the most meaningful learning happens when children have the time, space and freedom to simply play together.

Itโ€™s the best part about working with children watching how they develop and their play grows with them!

Last week we had been busy little builders! ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Our construction play has been giving us lots of opportunities to strengthen our muscles as we move, lift and carry blocks and tyres, working together to build and create.

We have been getting hands-on with our pretend tools too, using our imaginations to become builders, engineers and construction workers. ๐Ÿ”จ๐Ÿชš๐Ÿช›

As we build, we are sharing our ideas, talking about what we are creating and working together to solve problems. We are learning that our ideas can be different, and that sharing them with our friends can help us create something even bigger and better together!

Our construction play is helping us develop our physical strength, coordination, communication, creativity and confidence โ€” all while having lots of fun! โค๏ธ

We wonder what we will build nextโ€ฆ? ๐Ÿ—๏ธโœจ

As we begin our week learning all about pets and how we care for them, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to pop over to the school and visit Toffee the bunny. We had such a lovely time seeing him and learning more about how to care for our furry friends. Once we returned to preschool, we enjoyed dancing along to Hop Little Bunnies!

Back at preschool, we have been very busy caring for our poorly pets in our veterinary practice, helping them feel better and learning all about what vets do. We have also been getting creative making our very own cat masks.

Then, to make our week even more exciting, one of our parents will be popping in with their pet tortoise, Mortimer! We canโ€™t wait to meet him and finding out more about how to care for a tortoise.

Learning all about pets is encouraging us to explore the world around us and develop a deeper understanding of the many wonderful living creatures that share our world. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿข๐Ÿฑ ๐Ÿถ ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿฆ

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿž Our Little Explorers had a fantastic first session at the conservation area! ๐Ÿž๐ŸŒป

There was so much to discover! We watched ladybirds, admired the tall sunflowers, investigated some very interesting hedgehog poo ๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿฆ”, and got creative making beautiful pictures using leaves ๐Ÿ‚.

A wonderful morning of exploring, discovering and learning about nature. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

Our next Little Explorers session is Wednesday morning! ๐ŸŒณ

๐Ÿฅพ Please remember your boots and waterproofs - weโ€™ll be ready for another adventure, whatever the weather! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿพ

The children loved going down to the stream with their nets, hoping to catch crayfish. ๐Ÿฆž But even when the crayfish stayed hidden, they were just as happy catching water snails and tiddlers, and playing Poohsticks from the bridge.

It's the simple things that create the biggest smiles. Making memories, sharing special moments, and embracing the wonderful gifts that nature has to offer. Potterspury Pre- School

As another fantastic term comes to an end, we'd like to wish all of our children and families a wonderful Summer holiday!

We've had so much fun together, making memories through heatwaves, paddling pools, splashing, sand play, sensory activities, exploring nature, caring for our plants, and even welcoming some very special frog visitors!

To our children moving on to their new schools, we are so proud of everything you've achieved and wish you all the very best on your exciting new adventures. We know you'll all shine!

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families for your continued support throughout the year. Your thoughtful cards, kind words and generous gifts have meant so much to us-we truly appreciate every one of them.

As we say goodbye to some, we're excited to welcome new children and families in September and look forward to making many more special memories together.

Have a safe, happy and relaxing Summerโ€”we'll see you in September! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒป
