Weekend Review.........

This weekend WSC Motorsport Engineering were at Trac Mon in Anglesey competing in the 12hr Race of Remembrance in aid of Mission Motorsport.

This time we were not competing using our Toyota Aygos but in our freshly built BMW 330i running the number 100, as West Suffolk College celebrated 100 years in September, and what a first outing this turned out to be!!!!

During Thursday practice all was going well for around an hour until the clutch centre plates decided they didn't like each other...

Friday morning was then busy replacing the clutch as well as ironing out a few issues detected during testing, unfortunately while replacing the clutch other components also had a falling out with the car, Bromley Motorsport stepped in supplying the required additional parts. we managed to get the car race ready for qualifying however the new clutch was still giving issues as did one of the coolant hose couplings, this tied with a starting issue ended the qualifying session prematurely.

Not ideal but the drivers did manage to qualify in 25th position for the race.

Saturday morning meant once again that the clutch needed to be removed and another replacement ensued. Fingers crossed for the race.

The race started well with Ben Spencer taking the car from 25th to 15th within the first 7 laps, a few laps later the car had sprung a fuel leak, fuel leak resolved racing resumed. Then the car developed an intermittent misfire, both Andy and Haydn Payne battled through admirably.

Despite all of this though the car did complete the race albeit not where we would have liked. the drivers did an amazing job and persevered throughout driving what was undoubtably a difficult car, when Brady Po***ck crossed the finish line there was a clear sense of achievement and relief.

Being part of this event was emotional for all of the team and it was a fantastic atmosphere all weekend, the camaraderie of all the teams involved was clear to see as was the evidence of the importance of Mission Motorsport and what they are able to achieve.

Weekend round up.....
This weekend WSC Motorsport were competing at Silverstone in Student Motorsport within the BRSCCs Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship.

Practice went well allowing the team to iron out a few issues with the cars set up.

Due to the number of entries, this weekend saw 3 heats with each driver competing in 2 races.

Qualifying went well with Brady Po***ck #12 in third and Haydn Payne #72 in fifth overall and 1st and 3rd respectively for Student Motorsport.

In Race one Haydn finished well bringing #72 third in class. In Race 2 Brady started on pole with Haydn right behind in 3rd place. The first few corners were a rather intense battle causing both drivers to drop. Brady battled back to the front and took up the lead with Haydn battling back to 3rd in class...
The race ended with Brady bringig the #12 Home in overall 1st. Brady's first outright win, obviously 1st in class too with the #72 of Haydn also on the SMo podium in 3rd.

Race 3 saw Brady once again start from pole but unfortunately on the first corner Brady was collected and the #12 ended up spinning out, Brady rejoined the track in last place and then subsequently fought his way back to 6th overall and 3rd in class. This can only be described as an epic drive by Brady and the applause given as he entered parc ferme well deserved.

Overall this was an epic weekend for WSC Motorsport and we can't thank our drivers enough for the effort and determination demonstrated all weekend.

Good morning front a very bright Silverstone, race day BRSCC City Car Cup and Student Motorsport.....

This past weekend the team have been at Snetterton for the Student Motorsport and City Car Cup.

Our weekend began with testing on Thursday with not just the City Cars but also a Citroën DS3 which #12 and #72 would be racing in Clubsport on Sunday and a Mazda 3 MPS (one of our evolution cars).

On Saturday the weather threw a few curveballs and with yellow flags we didn't quite qualify as we wanted, #19 Glen Bee had an unfortunate qualifying in the Norwich City Car where he was helping out after Elliot Lettis switched teams, #119 Ben Bee showed improving confidence despite the wet conditions in ME Bee.

In Race one however the drivers did what they do best with #72 Haydn Payne making up 9 places in a very wet race 1 showing his expertise in adverse conditions. Race 2 saw #12 return to the podium with a stunning drive to secure P3 in class.

On Sunday afternoon the rain didn't relent and a very wet Clubsport race ensued.
Clubsport is a mini endurance series of a 45 minute race with a mandatory pit stop and driver change, the target time for the stop is 2 minutes and the team smashed it with a time a of fraction of a second over the 2 minutes.

Both drivers were brilliant and finished 2nd in class, which us phenomenal considering the power difference amongst the other cars in class E.

Overall this was a fantastic weekend giving students experience in a different race series and an understanding of the pressures running multiple cars in different formula, they even managed to find time to help repair the car for QE Motorsports #172 on Saturday evening when most had retired for the day.

With Silverstone only a few weeks away we will also be looking forward to seeing Luke Power (our development driver) piloting the Norwich City College Car for the first time after leaked this during the weekend live streams.

Change of formula today as we are taking our first step in expanding the formulas that we compete in, initially running the City Cup Cars (but do watch this space) good result after qualifying with 1st and 2nd in class
