๐Ÿฅ‹ GRADING WEEKEND IS COMING! ๐Ÿฅ‹

The countdown is on โ€” our next grading weekend takes place ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐˜๐—ต & ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿญ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ!

This is an exciting opportunity for students to showcase the hard work, focus, and dedication theyโ€™ve put into their training. From technique and discipline to confidence and perseverance, grading is about demonstrating progress both on and off the mats.

Students โ€” make sure youโ€™re attending classes, practising hard, and arriving ready to give your best effort. We canโ€™t wait to see everyone step up and shine! ๐Ÿ’ช

Good luck to all those grading โ€” letโ€™s make it a fantastic weekend! ๐Ÿ‘Š

STRONG AND CONFIDENT ๐Ÿ’ฅ

At SKMA, confidence is built through movement, discipline, and perseverance. Our Juniors learning the sumo stance (Shiko Dat Chi) arenโ€™t just developing strength โ€” theyโ€™re building focus, balance, resilience, and self-belief every step of the way.

Strong body. Strong mind. Confident spirit. ๐Ÿ‘Š

๐ŸŒŸ MEMBER REVIEW ๐ŸŒŸ

Stories like this are exactly why we do what we do. ๐Ÿฅ‹โค๏ธ

Starting kickboxing to help with back pain, build core strength, and learn self-defenceโ€ฆ and discovering so much more along the way.

Stronger physically. Stronger mentally. More confidence. More resilience. A supportive community. A reason to keep showing up.

One part of this review that really stood out to us:

"Kickboxing has shown me time and time again that with consistency you can get anything โ€” it will come, and I surprise myself each time." ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

At SKMA, training is about more than punches and kicks. Itโ€™s about progress, confidence, friendship, and supporting each other through the good days and the hard ones.

To hear that our club has helped someone feel stronger, healthier, supported, and empowered means the world to us.

Thank you for such an incredible review โ€” and for being part of our community ๐Ÿ’ช

If youโ€™ve ever thought about giving kickboxing a try, maybe this is your sign ๐Ÿ˜‰

You Don't Need To Be Fit To Start. You Start To Get Fit.

Now, one of the biggest reasons adults in their 30s and 40s put off starting martial arts is the belief that they need to "get in shape first."

You tell yourself you'll go for a few runs, maybe lose a bit of weight, and then you'll book a trial class. Let me be clear: that is a trap. Waiting until you feel "ready" means you will never start.

You don't need to be an athlete to step onto the mats. If you haven't done a sport since school, if you feel stiff, or if you get out of breath walking up the stairs โ€” that is exactly why you should be here. We don't expect you to keep up with the black belts on day one. We expect you to empty your cup, be a beginner, and trust the process.

Progress is slow on purpose. We build the foundation first, focusing on mobility, basic technique, and controlled movement. You aren't going to be thrown in at the deep end.

Stop waiting for the perfect time. The perfect time was ten years ago. The second best time is now.

Spaces in our beginner-friendly adult classes are limited to 30 on the mat. Book your free trial class at www.skmartialarts.com and let's get to work.

โ€œMotivation is bullsh*t.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿฅ‹

A bold statement from Sensei in this podcast clipโ€ฆ but hear him out.

Motivation comes and goes.

Some days you feel fired up. Other days youโ€™re tired, busy, stressed, or just not feeling it.

And if motivation is the only thing keeping you going, one setback, one missed session, or one bad week can suddenly turn into 6 months away from training.

Thatโ€™s where discipline comes in.

Discipline is showing up when you donโ€™t feel like it.
Discipline is training even when progress feels slow.
Discipline is knowing that consistency beats motivation every time.

Because results donโ€™t come from feeling motivated once in a while โ€” they come from what you do consistently. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

Take a listen to the clip and tell usโ€ฆ are you team motivation or team discipline? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Martial arts teaches us something powerful:

You will struggle sometimes.
You will make mistakes.
You will have setbacks.
You will have days where things feel hard.

But growth isnโ€™t about never falling down โ€” itโ€™s about getting back up.

Again.
And again.
And again.

The lessons we learn on the mats donโ€™t stay in the dojo. They help shape confidence, resilience, discipline, and the mindset to keep moving forward when life gets challenging.

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep standing back up. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

Okay TRK Juniorsโ€ฆ who thought this combo was a good idea?! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ”ฅ

This week, Sensei had our Juniors trying a brand-new challenging combination for the very first time:

๐Ÿ‘Š Hook Punch
๐Ÿฆต Kick
๐Ÿ‘Š Upper Cut
๐ŸŒช๏ธ Spin Kick
๐Ÿ‘Š Finish with an Upper Cut

Easy to remember, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚

New combinations can feel tricky at first, but this is where the magic happens โ€” learning coordination, balance, focus, timing, and the confidence to keep trying even when something feels hard.

And honestly? The effort was amazing ๐Ÿ‘

Who nailed it first timeโ€ฆ and who had to stop for a quick โ€œwaitโ€ฆ what comes next?โ€ moment? ๐Ÿ˜†

Sharp punches. Strong mindset. Supportive team. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our TRK Ladies Only Kickboxing class putting in the work on jab-cross drills, working in pairs and sharpening their technique on the focus mitts.

Itโ€™s not just about hitting pads โ€” itโ€™s about building confidence, fitness, coordination, and learning new skills in a welcoming and supportive environment ๐Ÿ’ช

One partner holding pads, one partner workingโ€ฆ encouraging each other every step of the way ๐Ÿ‘

Whether youโ€™re completely new to kickboxing or looking to improve your skills, everyone starts somewhere โ€” and thereโ€™s nothing better than training alongside a great group of people.

Would you give it a go? ๐ŸฅŠ

Focus. Discipline. Progress. ๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our SKMA Juniors hard at work learning their second kata โ€” Nihon Mae.

Kata is about so much more than remembering movements. It helps students develop focus, balance, coordination, discipline, and confidence while learning how techniques flow together with purpose and control.

Every stance, every block, every movement matters โ€” and itโ€™s brilliant to see our Juniors growing in confidence as they work through the next stage of their martial arts journey ๐Ÿ‘

Great effort from everyone on the mats! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Runโ€ฆ SPRAWLโ€ฆ KICK KICK! ๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our TRK Juniors putting their fitness, focus, and fast reactions to the test!

Every time Sensei counts, itโ€™s straight into a sprawl followed by kick kick combos โ€” keeping everyone moving, thinking, and working hard ๐Ÿ’ช

It might look like fun (and it is ๐Ÿ˜„), but drills like this help build:
โœ… Fitness
โœ… Coordination
โœ… Listening skills
โœ… Fast reactions
โœ… Confidence under pressure

Big effort from all of our Juniors โ€” non-stop energy on the mats today! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Š

Who else can hear Sensei counting before the sprawls start? ๐Ÿ˜…
