As another busy and exciting week comes to an end, we are delighted to share some of the wonderful learning experiences and special events that have taken place across the school. From welcoming our new Reception children and exploring wildlife at Marwell Zoo to exciting residential adventures at Little Canada, our pupils have continued to demonstrate enthusiasm, kindness and a love of learning. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we hope you enjoy reading about some of this week's highlights.
This week, our Year R children took part in the Teddy Bears’ Picnic for our new Reception children. They were fantastic role models throughout the event and did a brilliant job retelling the story of Supertato.
After a busy morning making delicious Rice Krispie cakes, the children proudly served them to our visitors and carefully poured drinks for everyone. I was incredibly impressed with the excellent manners, kindness and helpfulness shown throughout the day.
During independent learning time, some children chose to create signs for the picnic, demonstrating their fantastic writing skills. These were proudly displayed for everyone to see.

Year 1 had a fantastic trip to Marwell Zoo today. The children enjoyed an exciting day exploring the zoo and learning about a wide variety of animals from around the world.
One of the highlights of the day was taking part in an Animal Expedition, where the children discovered fascinating facts about different species, their habitats and how they survive in the wild. They asked thoughtful questions, showed great enthusiasm and represented the school brilliantly. It was a fun-filled day packed with learning and adventure!
Year 2 have been busy developing their measuring skills by weighing objects using balance scales and pan scales. They have also been practising reading scales that increase in steps of 2, 5, 10 and 100.
Their learning about midpoints during Maths Mastery sessions proved very useful and helped them to apply their understanding confidently. Well done, Year 2!
In Science, Year 3 explored reflective materials. The children investigated a range of different materials and tested whether they reflected light. They enjoyed making predictions, carrying out investigations and discussing their findings like real scientists! 🔦
Year 4 as a special conclusion to last term’s Science topic on Grouping and Classifying, Mrs Marshall brought in her pet stick insects for the children to observe and hold.
Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed meeting the stick insects and were fascinated by their movements, especially when they appeared to ‘dance’! It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that brought their Science learning to life.
Years 5 and 6 had an amazing time at Little Canada this week. The children took part in a wide range of exciting outdoor activities including canoeing, the giant swing, archery and laser tag.
Throughout the visit, the children demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience and enthusiasm as they challenged themselves and tried new experiences. They created lasting memories, built confidence and, thankfully, enjoyed some wonderful weather too! It was a fantastic trip that everyone will remember for a long time.
Father's Day Breakfast
Today, we were delighted to host our Father’s Day Breakfast. Thank you to all the dads and special adults who joined us for the morning. The children worked incredibly hard to create beautiful cards, and it was lovely to see them shared and appreciated.
A huge thank you also goes to our staff for helping to make the event such a success and to our PTA for organising the Father’s Day Gift Room. We are also very grateful to everyone who has donated items for our upcoming Bottle Tombola.
