Stepping Stones Day Nursery Totton

As we continue to embrace all things Spring with themed cookery clubs and activities, we have had an EGG-citing end to our week at the SS house…
Our curious Stepping Stones children enjoyed our annual egg hunt as they worked together to follow the clues and signs around the nursery garden, collecting lots of colourful eggs along the way.
The children were then each able to select a small chocolate gift of their choosing to take home and enjoy with their families.
We couldn’t miss out our EGG-stra special staff team who also helped themselves to a little yummy treat as a thank you for all they do.

🌷Mothers day🌷

We were delighted to host our annual Mother's Day celebrations at Stepping Stones this week. Some of our lovely Mummies, Daddies and Grandparents joined us for ‘Cream tea and Curiosity' where the children were able invite someone special to them along to nursery for precious time playing and exploring together with a little tasty treat to accompany the fun!
The Stepping Stones team set up some wonderful provocations that the children could enjoy alongside their loved ones including planting, collaging and sensory water play.
Our wonderful Angie also served up scones and pink lemonade for our visitors to enjoy whilst immersing themselves in their child’s interests, spending time being curious together.

Our World Book Day celebrations were once again in full swing as our Stepping Stones family came together to embrace the awe and wonder of books.
The SS staff this year decided on a ‘Mr Men and Little Miss’ theme where staff each chose a character that they felt represented them.
We were absolutely delighted to be joined by many children dressing as characters from their own favourite books or bringing in books from home to share with us, both of which opened up so may wonderful conversations and learning opportunities throughout the day.
We even had some VIP visitors, Hayley decided that even on maternity leave she just couldn’t miss our annual celebrations so her and baby Ethan dressed up to join us and the exciting invitations to learning for the afternoon💛
As always it was a wonderful opportunity for us to enjoy stories together and celebrate the pleasure of reading, coming together as our Stepping Stones community to create a life long love of literature.
Please all continue to take the time to regularly enjoy books at home with your little ones. These moments and stories themselves truly are so precious and full of magic…there are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all📚

As part of Shrove Tuesday the children helped make and cook their very own breakfast this morning as they once again put their chefs hats and skills to use!
This was a wonderful opportunity to build the children’s knowledge of the world and its traditions as well as continuing to enhance all the learning and developmental oppertunities that cooking and being creative together brings.
The children finished their yummy pancake creations with toppings of their choosing as they enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day together🥞

The Stepping Stones house has been filled with even more love than usual this week as we celebrated Valentines with our ‘love at first slice’ Stepping Stones Pizzeria!
As part of this week’s Cookery Club our little nursery chefs were given the opportunity to make their very own pizza that they could then take home to share and enjoy with their loved ones.
The children were able to experiment with creating their own individual arrangement of toppings to build a yummy masterpiece catered to their personlal taste and preference. This opened up so many learning opportunities and wonderful conversations as we once again enjoyed being creative and curious together.
Our wonderful staff team also enjoyed a little tasty treat in aid of Valentine’s as we took the opportunity to celebrate how lucky we are to have our special Stepping Stones family and how much we appreciate the love and dedication they put into their roles each day.

We once again celebrated our final day together at the SS house, embracing this cozy time of year in our Christmas pj’s! 💕
As we come the end of another wonderful year we wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from our Stepping Stones family to yours.

Our Stepping Stones family is expanding!🤍

We are delighted to introduce you to our new staff members who have joined our team recently. Arthur is an experienced and dedicated practitioner. He has many years experience working with children and has been a great addition to our early years team.
Ellie is joining us as a nursery assistant and is at the start of her early years career. Ellie will be working with both our babies and early years children gaining lots of experience in readiness to work towards her qualification.

🍂Embracing Autumn 🍂

Our children have been embracing the Autumnal season and all of the wonderful treasures that the season brings.
We have been lucky enough for staff to bring in items they have found on their Autumn walks and we can’t wait for our families to join in the fun also, using our Autumn treasure bags.

As we know the children are the heart and soul of Stepping Stones but those children wouldn’t be so wonderfully curious without all the people around them igniting their curiosity and celebrating all that they are each and every day so as part of ‘Early Years Wellbeing Week’ we decided not only to include our amazing staff but also the mummies, daddies and carers who deserve our appreciation for all they do too.
We planned a little something for each day to support staff’s wellbeing and promote mindfulness along with a daily quote of empowerment and motivation.
As part of this staff were asked to select a ‘token of appreciation’ gift that they felt best supported their wellbeing to help them unwind and relax after a long day. We then hosted another ‘Stepping Stones’ event where parents were presented with a basket of goodies and encouraged to do the same as a small gesture of our appreciation.
Our Stepping Stones family would not be what it is without each and every child, staff member and parent … we thank you today and always for all you are and all you do💛

Today some of our early years children headed to the post box to send a special card over to Hayley’s house! Hayley and Leon are now parents to baby Ethan - Huge congratulations to them both and we hope our post arrives soon! 🤍
