🍂 Autumn Adventures in Our Local Community! 🍂
Our Early Years children enjoyed getting out and about in the local community for an exciting autumn hunt, using our autumn checklist to guide their exploration. 🍁
As we walked, the children spotted so many signs of autumn, including acorns, moss, fallen leaves in lots of different colours, spider webs, twigs and feathers. They carefully collected what they could to bring back to nursery, talking about what they could see, feel and find along the way. 🌿🍂
Being out in our local community gave the children opportunities to develop their curiosity and observation skills, notice seasonal changes in the environment and talk about the natural world around them. They also learnt about how we can explore and enjoy our local area respectfully, taking care of the environment and collecting only what was appropriate to bring back.
Our learning continued in the afternoon as we explored the fallen leaves in our nursery garden. 🍃 The children matched the leaves to the correct trees, looking closely at their shape, size, colour and features. They made comparisons between the different leaves, noticing similarities and differences and using their observations to help identify which tree they had come from.
A wonderful day of exploring, investigating, comparing and learning from the world around us! 🍁🔎🌳
