π£β¨ A wonderful start to Thursday! β¨
We've had some exciting arrivals this morning β two partridge eggs have hatched! π₯π
Pop into the office to catch a glimpse of our newest little residents. The children will be visiting throughout the day to meet them and watch these fluffy chicks begin their first adventures.
It's a lovely reminder of how amazing nature can be, and we're looking forward to sharing the excitement with everyone! πΏπ£

πΏπ£ Exciting news at Totton! The partridge eggs have arrived once again, and the children are already full of excitement.
Over the coming week, they'll have the wonderful opportunity to observe the eggs closely, learn about the life cycle of partridges, and hopefully watch some tiny chicks hatch before their eyes. This hands-on experience helps children develop an understanding of nature, animal care, and the importance of patience and responsibility.
We're looking forward to seeing the children's curiosity grow as they care for and learn about these fascinating birds. Keep an eye on our page for updates and, with a little luck, some very special hatching moments! π₯β¨

ππΌ Yesterday we celebrated National Bee Day and today we were incredibly lucky to welcome Derek the Bee Man to visit the Paddingtonβs! πΌπ
The children were fascinated as Derek shared all about his beehives at home, how bees make honey, and why bees are so important to our world. π―π The children loved looking at the equipment, learning about the queen bee, worker bees and how bees help flowers, plants and crops to grow through pollination.
One of the highlights of the day was tasting Derekβs delicious homemade honey! π― The children talked about the smell, texture and taste and were excited to discover where honey comes from. Experiences like this help children make real-life connections through hands-on learning and meaningful conversations.
Throughout the session the children:
π Asked thoughtful questions
π Explored new vocabulary linked to bees and nature
π Developed confidence speaking in a group
π Learned about caring for the environment and living creatures
π Used their senses to investigate and explore
π Shared ideas and experiences with their friends
This wonderful experience supported so many areas of learning within the EYFS including:
π Communication and Language β listening carefully, asking questions and learning new vocabulary
π Understanding the World β learning about nature, habitats, insects and the role bees play in our environment
π Personal, Social and Emotional Development β building confidence, curiosity and respect for living things
π Expressive Arts and Design β inspiring imaginative play, drawing and creative discussions about bees and nature
π Literacy β developing interest in stories, facts and non-fiction texts about insects and wildlife
A huge thank you to Derek for taking the time to share his knowledge and passion with us today. The children had an unforgettable experience and were buzzing with excitement all day long! ππ
